In my world the sand is clean and the beach suitable for bathing..... Blue Flag standard (according to EU regulations). But!.... as soon as we leave I will cover it with oil and sludge to make it more realistic!

Wasn't the Wright Bros. 'Kittyhawk' the first flying machine which proved manned flight possible?
Surely that should be a contender?

Thanks guys, I'm still working on this area and there's more to come before I'm satisfied. Today I installed such a minor item I doubt most people would even notice, but I think it adds to the scene... ./myff/2017359/IMG_4084.JPG It is the drain cover which catches the drips from the water tower hos...

If you have a Poundland nearby, try their grey primer in a rattle can. It is a dark grey and dries with a satin finish. I use it a lot and it works on metal and plastics. And guess what..... it costs just £1.00!

It hasn't rained here in West Wales for three days now, I expect that by the end of the week there will be no bottled water left on supermarket shelves! However, it has given me the opportunity to remove the protective tarp. to inspect the quayside and I am pleased to say it has set firm and can now...

Anyone can make a mistake...

Forgive me, for I have sinned!!!! I was tempted by 'the Dark Side' and ventured into the 'other forum' as I had visited a few times and liked some items not available elsewhere. I was invited to start a thread, which I duly did, but it met with limited response apart from members also on this Forum ...

Thanks again Grant, you are right abut the structures not looking as though they are floating on thin air, wherever possible I try to plant them, not always possible I'm afraid, but I do try. The wharf area is under wraps, (tarpaulin) at the moment while the SBR dries the sand. We have had the heavi...

Completion and installation of my new water tower today. Beautiful weather (for a change) allowed me to get outside and place the tower in its permanent location. It will be removable for winter storage but is held in place by a brass rod fixed to the ground and slotted inside the water supply pipe ...

Lovely looking loco Jim, and well done with the build. I have a kit-built Billy which I bought ready made but complete with full instructions and I have subsequently managed to fit RC and adjust the valve timing without any problems.... Three cheers to Roundhouse!!!

Excellent James.... great work on all of your projects. You have nailed the appearance of the track in the shed area, it looks most convincing.
Everything looks just right, despite the weather trying to put a stop to it.

Grant, I do manage to get through a steady supply of HIP but here in UK I have found a source of large sheets (916 x 610) at what I think is a reasonable price compared to normal hobby shop prices. 1mm thick £3.25, 1.5mm £4.60, 2mm £6.25 (GBP) Also available in colours at the same price. My last ord...

More progress with the Pendle Valley kits....  as previously explained, the water tank has been separated from its stone base and a steel support structure made instead.   I already have a water tower with a slate base which I made some years ago (see earlier post?) so a different approach was requi...

Hi Rik,  the paint colour from Games Workshop 'Citadel' range is Castellan Green.  I believe there is an on-line supply if you don't have an outlet near you.

Rik, the acrylic paint I use is from Games Workshop and the range of colours available is just amazing.   Off hand I can't remember the name of this green (it is in my modelling shed) but I will send details later.
