Re: 71 Mile Garden Railway anyone?? Channel 4 - 7th Jan

Discussion of this project has gone rather vocal online elsewhere, and indirectly has caused a Moderator of the 16mm NGM Association Facebook Group to resign. But consider this. It was never intended initially to build a garden railway. It actually started out as a model railway from Liverpool to Go...

Re: Glendale Rocket Project.

Another fantastic SM32 conversion Tony, with yet another one waiting in the wings.

Like Rik & others I've yet to come across these amazing charity shop finds, but I do now carry my Jurassic Models 16mm scale ruler in my wallet to hunt out any 16mm scale bargains at the £1 shops.

Re: Progress pics of my Roundhouse Billy kit

Impressive progress Mike, and a nicely turned out Billy. My weakness with kit building is spray painting. The owner whom I bought my partly built Billy kit from is patiently waiting to see the Riverdale Elke conversion, but I've still to paint the body work & temporarily fit radio control (been ...

Re: New Addition to the CCLW Roster

The St A & M Railway has gradients, so I was a little apprehensive about her first run on track, even more so after seeing a manual controlled Accucraft Bagnall derail before my go. I decided to initially run her back & forth on the level section, and after that went OK, off she went around ...

Re: New Addition to the CCLW Roster

Refitting the original exhaust pipe sorted out the burner. As you will see if you watch the video, recording came to an abrupt halt due to external interference! This run last 21:45 mins. https://youtu.be/IcAY_L_Rdsw The running in process continued well, with running times slowly increasing - 19:00...

New Addition to the CCLW Roster

Happy New Year. Not been posting on here for awhile, so hopefully this helps to correct that situation. Last year I resisted the temptation to buy more locos (it was when my main pensions matured, taking the lump sum options), but I cracked just before Xmas buying not one but two locomotive kits. My...

Re: New Millie

I picked up a nicely detailed 2002 Millie 2nd hand late last year, although curiously the wheels have not been painted. As you can see in this short video it is very capable of running manually at nice slow speeds (the point where it stops furthest away from the camera was indicating that the track ...

The standard bushing thread used on all Mamod products is 1/4" x 26 BSF.

Re: MSS Side Tank Loco first steaming

I know these little locos only cost about quarter or half the price of a much better loco but its my first step into live steam and I'm saving already for a Telford or a Brunel not made my mind up yet Tom. A read through some of the Topics over on the Unofficial Mamod Forums should enlighten you to...

Re: Accucraft Baguley.

0.8mm Having one crank work loose on both my Ragleth & Edrig, I sent a request via the website contact form to Accucraft UK to obtain the appropriate allen key. Promptly replied by Ian Pearse & 0.8mm allen Key and 10 grub screws were sent by post at no cost. This was probably about 18 months...

Re: MSS wheels not suited to tight radii on Peco track

It is interesting, but I cannot understand why there is a problem with Peco Flexi Track? Does the same occur with Peco Setrack? I have just compared some Mamod/MSS track with some Peco Flexi Track and the profile of the part of the railhead which will be in contact with the wheels are very similar, ...

Tony,

If you scroll down to the bottom of their Home Page, you will find Sandy Hunter's (Moderator Sandman) email address at the bottom of the Welcome message. He should be able to sort out your problem.

Re: Roundhouse Bertie

It is (just) possible to fit a 4 X AAA battery pack between the frames of a 32mm Bertie, but not too much space left for anything else if you stick with the standard Roundhouse buffer beam & centre buffer coupling ( GTB 's converted Bertie model has a chopper coupling fitted). Bertie Battery 01....

Re: New Mamod offerings

Mamod have just said that the Boulton is based on a Google image of a Newcastle dock engine, but underneath the bodywork there are (at least to me) a lot of similarities with the mechanics of the LC Models Danny.

Re: Top up valves and anti-vacuum valves.

The top up valve over the sight glass seems to be be an additional mounted tune up part. As I know was this not ex works. That's how Regner do it. A goodall type water filler valve was included with most Cheddar Models locomotives, but was fitted into a spare boiler bushing, not on top of the sight...

Re: Roundhouse Bertie

Two things to consider when R/C'ing a Bertie. 1. It is fitted with slip eccentric valve gear so you can only radio control the regulator, and need the out of scale human hand intervention when requiring a change of direction. 2. Roundhouse use 2 different regulator controls, one for manual control &...

Re: Safety valve

The Roundhouse safety valve uses an internal 'O' ring as its seal and likely will need replacing over time (I've replaced several Roundhouse & Accucraft internal safety valve 'O' rings in the last couple of years). http://www.roundhouse-eng.com/tech.htm#sv These internal 'O' rings are not includ...

Mamod are a member of the Unofficial Mamod Forums. I understand that it is more than just coincidence that their diesel, Boulton, has similarities to the LC Models Danny, which is no longer sold by Kent Garden Railways. It has a 12V MFA motor & bevel gears. http://modelsteam.myfreeforum.org/ftop...

So if we can't use that what do you recommend? The right water to use is a controversial subject online. Roundhouse have a good technical section on their website, which includes their views on water - http://www.roundhouse-eng.com/tech.htm#water Accucraft say to use filtered rain water or distille...

Re: water level glass

it works out at about eleven pence per boiler full! And £35 for a replacement boiler. De-ionized water - this is often sold for use in steam irons and the general opinion amongst the small scale live steam community is that it should not be used. Because of the way it is 'purified', it can cause lo...
