You and me too, Matt. I despite most of my friends being into Reenactment and also board games, role play (table top and live action) and comics, sci fi etc (no, this is not a roll call for Big Bang Theory) I thought I was the geek because I was into trains and had a garden railway. I mean...ME the ...

Rebuilding the RVLR

Right over the next few weekends, weather permitting, I am going to commence relaying the RVLR with larger radius curves - after having gained suitable permission from He who must be obeyed regarding the flower beds. If anyone in my area (Stockport/north Chesire) would like to lend a hand, lend advi...

Ive recently unearth a battered copy of a Signalling Manual as produced for the Lazy Men's Society - I shall delve into it and see what light, if any, it sheds. I've also got a Victorian signally manual from the Lankie. At one time the Lankie used semaphore flags for passing messages from engines. T...

3-ply ply shouldn't really warp due to how it's made. And three layers laminated up (nine ply in total) should be pretty stable unless it was not straight ont he grain or it was very very long unsupported lengths when warping could occur if it was very very long with no support or similar e g a very...

Yep. And a lot easier than gluing on individual Cambrian Rivets. Which is how I started doing the rivetting.....and then went bozz eyed.

Chopper blades

Hi everyone Just a quick queery (and no I dont meen Julian Clary on a vesper) From where would one acquire such a thing as spare blades and springs for Accucraft chopper couplings? I purchased a job lot of them from the Bay of Ee - and half of them were lacking both blades. I also need to find some ...

The "Halesworth and Southwold Tramway" was incorporated in 1872 under the Tramways Act (1870) and as far as I can ascertin the subsequent "Halesworth & Southwold Railway" followed the same route. The Halesworth & Southwold Railway was proposed 1875 as a standard guage lin...

As far as I can gather the Southwold adopted Clemsinson stock as it was the "big thing" in the late 1870s. James Cleminson's patented underframe appeared in 1877/8 and was all over the mechanical and railway press. There's a great piece in the "Wagon & Carriage Review" from 1...

From the top of my head the Cleminson stock on the Southwold was c.36' over the headstocks and c.6' 6" wide.

The only surviving piece of rolling stock - a van - is 10' long and 6' wide. The original chassis, alas, is long gone!

I'll pop down to my local branch. I need a new hacksaw and razor saw........the last razor saw I acquired came from Games Workshop - mostly because it was cheaper by alot in the only other model shop where I am, the now defunct ModelZone (given their rip off prices, Im not surprised......).

Apropos nothing at all....what gauge would 3' be in 16mm? about 48mm? Only a mite out from 45mm but.....it would very interesting to have 2' and 3' to the same scale just you know for the old size comparison......

Curves, curves, curves!

I think it's official. I need to relay the curves with the new Peco 38" radius. The current 30" radius are just to goddam tight! I'm going to have a furtle with track templates but I think they shouldnt be a problem and will have the added bonus (in my head) of taking the track away from t...
