Lightening responses and great skill. I have to confirm that Mr Butler does wear his underpants on the outside and gets changed in a 'phone kiosk.

Thanks Jim, but my alias is blown now!!!!
At least I can spare the Forum the photographs.

This is the site for the harbour scene... ./myff/2007230/IMG_3926.JPG Not particularly interesting as it stands so just right for development. With a little modification to the timber framing it will allow a step to be fitted which will be the water level. Meanwhile... a bonded warehouse would be pe...

Now that you have a fishing village name, can we expect to see a harbour in due course? Groan!!!!!! that was unexpected. I never gave a thought to a harbour connection but now you have planted the seed I have looked at a location and decided it is certainly possible and, despite having to concentra...

Interesting information Jim, there may be many who would love to make an association with our local hero, but I make no claim, and, as he died in 1953 whilst on a promo. tour of America, I certainly wouldn't be old enough to remember him anyway. Caitlin was the wild spirit you describe and had relat...

Meanwhile, back to the thread!!!!! having read your comments, and taking your advice, which I always do, I have now managed to take away the 'newness' of the painted walls. It looks so much improved now, see what you think.... ./myff/2006850/IMG_3914.JPG ./myff/2006851/IMG_3915.JPG ./myff/2006852/IM...

Well I think you're doing exceptionally well considering the space you have to work in, moving things around is inevitable and no matter how you plan it, there are always items in the way! Also, doesn't that 'going to work' thing spoil your day? I think the fun is in the building, but others like to...

Thanks to you both, Philip and Rik..... I do so agree that the newness is 'in your face', as they say! Either the weather or I will have to do something about that. Rik, as for being 'too realistic' then clearly I have failed!!!!!

OK, own up...... whose bright idea was it to have graffiti on my building?  You know I can't resist a challenge! First I had to paint all of those individual stones and bricks, fit the roofing slates and coping stones, make the down-pipes from the gutters and then find some suitable graffiti images ...

I agree with your method, Pip. We're on a water meter here so just to let the hose run would not be a welcome solution.

Graffiti sounds like a good idea Jim. Most of my line is still too clean and clinical and I must try to loosen up a little. 'I distress' my rolling stock but haven't done much to the structures yet. Ideas for suitable graffity would be most welcome. Please bear in mind I have no knowledge or interes...

Further progress.... the ends of the building are now rendered and the chimney ( constructed to fit the roof line around a fence vertical support batten) has been clad with stone effect sheet and capped. ./myff/2004767/IMG_3901.JPG ./myff/2004768/IMG_3902.JPG So far no paint has been applied but I s...

That looks fine Tony and your comment about the wooden part failing first is the reason I went with plasticard. I would rather spend more time creating a detailed model in materials I think will last, rather than make more structures quicker using perishable materials in the knowledge that they will...

So far I think I can claim my rendering as a success. Before I worked on the large factory unit I had already made a small sample to test the idea out. It has now been four days since I made it and today I gave it the sort of punishment it should never receive out on the railway. ./myff/2004546/IMG_...

Cheers Jim, I was looking to give a different finish to the normal brick or stone and tried to think of a way to achieve it. I haven't seen this method used before so it is a bit of an experiment, which I enjoy. I know you often use timber because it is available to you, that makes sense, but unlike...

Another new building has been started, this time to disguise the large expanse of green fencing.  Not that it looks too bad but there is always room for improvement.  This time it is a low relief factory style unit which will eventually become an engineering workshop servicing the railway.  It fits ...
