Re: wiring?

Excellent, thanks chaps. I'd not heard of Eneloop batteries before, they look great. Can they go in a regular charger?

I'll try to find time to get the loco apart over the next week or two to see what size battery pack I'll need and he space available...

Andrew.

Re: wiring?

Those are lovely clear diagrams, thanks Rik. I've got a dead Andel "Moelwyn" which I'd like to bring back to life - I'm pretty sure the problem is that the rechargable batteries have been allowed to get so flat that they'll no longer take a charge. It's because I can go for long periods wi...

Re: Quarterly Garden Railway Gallery, December 2019 - Enter Here

Nice picture!

I checked the weather forecast on the way to work this morning and the prospects seem good for a run at the weekend, so if that all works out I'll see if I can get a picture...

It looks great - and so neat I thought I was looking at CAD sketches at first rather than an actual model!

Re: Workshop/shed

I hadn't planned for it to become a trainshed - however, it does look as if the floor is coincidentally at the same height as the track which winds its way behind the shed - mere coincidence of course..... ;) A very happy one! I guess I was thinking that even a simple siding into "the works&qu...

Re: Workshop/shed

That's going to be fantastic - I'm trying hard not to be jealous! The word burner sounds like a good idea too, that's where my off-cuts end up... The urinal may be practical, but I'm not sure it's going to add to the ambience! Maybe it could go in the shed bit?! Will you be able to run the trains st...

Re: Time to build a railway...but where?

Wonderful pictures, thank you!

I particularly like the way most of the colours are muted but the moss stands out really vividly...

I'll be bringing my buildings in soon too (all three of them!) but hope to get one more run in first...

Re: Faller mini play train

I really like the Faller Play Train stuff - the whole aesthetic just really works, I think. There's some lovely Faller-based stuff here: http://www.xn--gunnar-grbel-djb.de/html/faller_train/etrain/diarama/diarama.html I've never owned one of these particular sets, but have always liked the look of t...

Re: Welcome to the CHLR

That's looking very good - could that wall on the right be a quarry face?! Like the slate wagons too - Lineside Hut? My dad had a layout in the loft when I was young, with old doors as baseboards, resting on tea chests, all pretty rickety I think. We didn't use it very often, but I still remember th...

You may not know, but K-S did build 4 wheeled diesels. Yours looks about right for the 30HP model. Aha! I think I did know once, but had forgotten, thank you for the reminder! Your message encouraged me to have another look for my copy of "Fifteen Shillings Change", the pamphlet you menti...

Re: The Great Garden Railway Inspection Reports

Great report, thank you - and some views of the line that I've not seen before too! If the worst the inspector's got to moan about is a rather laid-back approach by the staff and the odd leaf on the line, you must be doing something right!

With very best wishes to you both,

Kerr Stuart diesel

Hello! With the proportion of "proper" Welsh Highland and Ffestiniog stock on my railway gradually increasing, I've been thinking about a suitable battery powered loco to pull it when I don't fancy raising steam. I do have an Andel version of Moelwyn , but it's awaiting a new battery pack ...
