Re: Planning a new line

Your 'shed' looks palatial, I'm very impressed and envious, but also sorry that the work has impacted on your health - I hope you're back to fighting fit very soon.
It's also good to see that the Planning Authority (aka Management or SWMBO) have been providing assistance

Very impressive Andrew, although I wouldn't personally go for the rainbow period. But as we say - your railway, your rules.

Re: The Great Garden Railway Inspection Reports

After a fine cooked breakfast and excellent service from Mrs. Twice-Knightley, I was collected from mons repose at 0900 precisely for my return trip to Black Burton Station, arriving in good time for my meeting with the senior staff of the GWLR. I made my way to Platform 1, where Mr Mainwaring (Capt...

Re: Semi-scale BR: bridge upgrade

I'm not too hot at infrastructure and scenery – but I was pleased with it. And it's good fun doing the GIFs[/b][/size] Rural Dorset appears to be running very smokey locomotives or suffering shocking levels of industrial pollution. And not repainting bridges often enough. I got a bit carried away. ...

Re: Weak Bachmann Lyn motor

Congratulations on getting this far Rik. I can't offer any expert advice on positioning/meshing of worm gearing, but from my model boating days, I used to extend motor shafts by fitting an 'interference fit' piece of brass tubing over the exposed motor shaft, and then used the OD of that tubing to s...

Re: Can you tell what it is yet?

That is shaping up to be a really nice loco Steve. Lining with Trimline tape will be a good start to providing the 'finishing touches'. Like you, I've been in possession of a lining pen for many years, and have yet to use it in 'anger'. Not possessing a 3d printer, I was hoping to treat myself to a ...

You should be rightfully proud of that hotel Aaron. The signwriting really brings it to life. Simply superb.

Re: The Ringbalin "Cane Line"

That corrugated and galvanised iron is a real find. It's always satisfying when you find something that can be repurposed and look absolutely right. It's a shame it's not available for 16mm modelling, I'm sure there would be a demand lfor it. And the mill looks 'the biz'. I can almost feel the relen...

I really like the way this is shaping up Peter, and so many rivets allows a meditative state to develop whilst you work.

That looks like a well thought out line. It is only recently that I've realised that sidings are something that my line lacks other than at one station. Please share more!

Re: The GRR - A Look back

I found out the Mamod wasn't up for the job. Not making around a loop, stopping on the curves, or running so fast down the back section that it would then crash as it entered the curve.. Sadly - yep, that's Mamod's, unless you're prepared to put a lot of time and tinkering in, and even then results...

I still think my Psion is the best solution, if only I could find a way of increasing its system memory! Rik A quick google suggests that may be possible Rik, and plenty of Psion's on Ebay if you don't want to risk damaging your own - there may even be some with a standard larger memory, assuming y...
