Many thanks for posting my track-plan Andrew, it has improved slightly since then and more work is envisaged. I will attempt to add dimensions soon to show what space it covers. The ballast is holding up extremely well and I will certainly complete the whole railway in the same way. The only problem...

The foam board you are using isn't the same as the one I use... yours is suitable for outdoor use, as Philip says, but mine is not as it is the paper coated variety. As I said before, mine are not built for outdoor use on a permanent basis as I intend to alternate between Emett style and conventiona...

Hi Joe, this foam-board looks to be the same as the one I use too. It isn't suitable to be left outdoors so you have a wide choice of materials to choose from to enhance the detailing. Firstly I would recommend the use of parcel tape (brown paper tape with water soluble adhesive) to stick all of you...

Not everyone needs (or can afford) the best available product for just general use. I understand you can waste a lot of money on cut-price tools and equipment and care must be taken but.... for value for money (from my own experience) the brand sold by Lidl stands up well to the competition. By coin...

Congratulations Rik... they do look great!
I was watching the roof corners during the film and thought they were close, but they do the job and that's the important bit!
Your line looks good too, even at this time of year.

Tea Room now attached to its base. Stuck down with PVA, green foam scenic scatter material put onto the adhesive whilst still wet. This helps to conceal the join and adds detail where weeds and moss might grow. ./myff/1845074/IMG_2616.JPG ./myff/1845075/IMG_2614.JPG ./myff/1845076/IMG_2615.JPG

They do look good together. Well worth the effort for a unique rake (for now!) but I bet someone else will follow your lead before long as they lend themselves to modifying so well.

My next Emett building will be from the same cartoon as the one above.... ./myff/1843718/IMG_2278.JPG Shaped like a toll-house it has been turned into a tourist ice-cream shop. The structure is made in the same way, foam card, PVA and brown tape. Each house is complete with its own baseboard, any pa...

'The Works' are usually a good source of craft items suitable for alternative use... one such is a pack of bobbins which I plan to use as chimney pots.

Steamyjim, there is an Emett cartoon showing a watermill which is certainly a possibility for the future, although I doubt real water would be suitable!

I just love making things from found objects and my Emetts have been created using all sorts of things.... This is a hanging tea-light holder for a small candle turned into a birdcage for my 'Battery Hen'. ./myff/1843371/IMG_2194.JPG My model of 'Neptune' which really ran on the Festival of Britain ...

Well, it's been a month since I added to my thread..... far too long! I have been working on my railway.... honest! Not much to show on the railway itself but more buildings to add to my Emett style village scene when the summer comes.   None of these are designed to withstand the weather, they don'...

I must be too old for this game.... it never occurred to me that the snowflakes were added later, it looks so convincing! The line looks just fine and the new carriage superb! My railway is covered in chunks of ice so no running will be possible for some time yet. As Jim said..... we are feeling the...

Well done Jim, that looks well on site.
I must say you are a brave man putting your hard work out in this weather.... you have a great deal of confidence it will survive.
By Summertime it should have matured nicely with a little rust and some planting in all the right places.
