Re: The Candleford Green Light Railway

It's a good start. I was thinking of using blocks for the permanent way, but by using similar method to you I may get something running much quicker.

The wood looks like wood and the wagons present a most realistic appearance. Well done Rik.

Re: Ballasting track

My own first attempt was to use horticultural grit, which I took a long time to sieve out the larger lumps and only use the smaller. I quite liked the appearance o...

Re: Disasters, Out-takes, Accidents, Fails etc.

No pictures, but my Lady Anne has had a badly bent buffer beam when it derailed and hit a very substantial bridge support. It also suffered a dent, since removed in the tank side when it fell from an elevated section of a friend's railway.

Steve, I am not an engineer, I haven't worked in, or for, industry. It doesn't stop me from following your threads and builds with interest. I doubt I will ever own a lathe, pillar drill or any other type of engineering machinery but there are still things I can learn and I enjoy seeing something co...

Are they going to be red like the others? Yes, the intention is for them to be in the same livery as my existing two coaches. I've got the paint ready. Any difference will be down to a different paint batch although the new batch is from the same source so I'm not expecting any differences. I can't...

The main visible changes are the roofs and vacuum pipes, except on the right hand coach which has had handles rails and step boards added.

Impressed also with your camera techniques. Have you got a fancy camera which enables you to adjust the depth of field (eg through aperture settings?) or does your camera have an auto 'large scale models' setting? :) Rik Rik, The way to get a good depth of field is to use a tripod to mount the came...
