Re: Regner project

The blue is a Very similar shade to the Roundhouse blue. I nearly got my loco in blue I was so taken with it.

Can't wait to see your loco finished, but don't rush the painting stage.

Re: Music.

Wow. Some of those bring back memories. How about Leonard Cohen - Songs from a room and the sampler El-Pea. D. Yes, Some good music listed here already. In my case it will always bring back memories because I haven't bought (downloaded?) anything for a long time so I've got to listen to the old stu...

Re: 'New' crane for the GWLR

Both those items of rolling stock are superb. Well done.

I'm guilty of running empty mineral wagons and flat wagons.

It's nice to see loads being conveyed and working vehicles. Is it a mess van next?

I too regard myself as a bodger rather than a modeller and I'm certainly not an engineer!

Re: Fairy Wood Light Railway

Hi Ian, That’s good to have two domes, may well look for another myself. By the way Ian, did I mention I love your Lady Anne. She is on mt list for my next Live steam…. Got to get one for my CEO…(Anne)…  Thank you Rod, I'm sure Roundhouse would sell you a dome as a spare. She's got a few...

Re: Fairy Wood Light Railway

Thank you Rod, I'll only post on your (or anyone else's) thread if relevant. I don't want to upset the mods or anyone. Lol. Painting is a complex subject, which is possibly why a lot of people don't attempt it, or end up with disastrous results. I'm happy to pass on my limited knowledge and experienc...

Re: Fairy Wood Light Railway

With Rod's permission, here are my pictures and some background of the repainted dome for my Lady Anne. Most locos have a painted dome so I wanted to repaint mine in body colour. I also wanted a change of tank fillers which were also to be in the body colour. I contacted Roundhouse to ascertain the ...

Re: Regner project

Yes,

As a general rule, paint the lightest colours first and darkest last.

Rule 1 applies. It's your loco. She should be painted in your choice of colours.

Re: IP Coach Kits

Hello HeretikUK. I've built a couple of IP coaches and they were straight forward. As well as the IP and SS coaches you could also consider the Timpdon ones and the Brandbright ones. Choices, choices! I have the same dilemma. As I already have a rake of old IP coaches I only need one more rake. I'll...

Nice work.

The roof would look good black. It will go with blue and set off the loco nicely.

Re: Paint Colour Reference Chart - Request for Information

Tony, Paint matching is, in my experience extremely difficult. Even standard colours may not match for one or more reasons. UV can affect paint, as can chemicals. When repainting or touching up paint may not match depending on the shade and colour and type of paint being used. For example Red is a t...

Re: Painting Swift Sixteen kits

I agree with Peter.

I have a kit to build and, on the advice of the manufacturer, purchased a degreaser to remove the release agent. My degreaser came from Pendle Valley Workshop.

It will be used with CIF, which gets used on most of my paint jobs.

Re: Recent Stuff on the FBGR

Foamboard seems like a bit of a minefield then. Perhaps this explains why it's not so widely used.

Thanks for the advice.

Re: Recent Stuff on the FBGR

Thanks for the reply John. For anyone interested in using foamboard have a look at what Emmanuel Nouaillier has acheived here. http://www.009.cd2.com/members/how_to/nouaillier_a.htm Modelling at it's very best. Foamboard seems cheap enough to experiment with and looks like a very under rated materia...
