Re: Any members that live in the EU?

Mike, here is what I would like to do. I'd like to order a Riverdale boiler and post it to my family in England. If he's refusing to sell them in England now too I also have friends in Switzerland. Anyway, once the boiler arrives at my family's house, I could take very precise measurements of it, an...

Re: A finishing touch for Ellie.

You've done such nice work on this engine Tony. All the extra details make it a very appealing model. I especially like the dummy smokebox door on the side, and the lamp.

Re: Gauge 1 ‘project’

What a lovely model! I love everything about it- a masterpiece! You must make a longer video for us to watch, please. I find this engine very appealing indeed. It looks right in every respect. I love the little puffs of steam from the drain cocks under the front buffer. Really looks the part with th...

A masterpiece. I really admire all the problem-solving and customization that went into this locomotive.

Re: Kerr Stewart 4420 - Live steam and 3D printing

Thanks! I enjoy watching these locomotive-building videos more when I can visualize what is being built. It must have been a strange little engine. One doesn't often see water-tube boilers on locomotives, either. Your last engine build was very interesting to watch; I'm looking forward to seeing mor...

Re: Kerr Stewart 4420 - Live steam and 3D printing

This is pretty interesting. I've tried to find a picture of the subject locomotive online, but although I've found descriptions of it, I've not been able to find any photographs. What did it look like?

This little engine seems worthy of its own street-railway type coaches when it's done. I love the extra detail in the body- it really brings it to life.

It looks like the kind of thing that would only be sensible if you didn't already know about Stevenson's valve gear (or Joy, or Walschaerts, et.c, et.c

Or obviously if you're interested in historical things :D

Re: 5" gauge Tiger

I opted for TIGER (Sister Loco of LION) as she just vanished. She could be perfectly preserved in the belly of a sunken Royal Navy Arctic-exploration converted bomb-ship. I will have to look up "Gab" gear to learn how it works! Please post more pictures of your engine as you go along. I l...

Re: Zach Bond "Momentum Van" project

I had my "Billy" out on its portable oval this summer with the zecar momentum van I originally started this thread with. I took a couple of short videos to show its performance. The locomotive is completely manual and although the deck is level, the track is pretty rough. Obviously the eng...

Re: "Calloway", a Roundhouse Bundaberg Fowler Rebuild

Here's a couple of pictures of the under-cab injectors I made. DJB engineering does castings of tank-mounted injectors. I bought a pair at his stall at the Garden Railway show one year. I don't see the castings (or any other ones) on the DJB website anymore (I just checked) but possibly he still has...

Re: Gauge 1 ‘project’

I presumed you would either have incorporated a valve of some sort, or reduced the hole size. The question for me is, how would I go about making the hole in the Accucraft lubricator smaller? (Sorry if it seems a dumb basic question, but I am not a model engineer, but I am proud that I belong to th...

Hi Keith,
Have you tried descaling the valve?
You know, I hadn't thought of that! Good idea.

Re: Operating a new Roundhouse Lady Anne

I went back and looked at the construction video of Omingmak ,is it my imagination, or does the safety valve behave better then? Perhaps the difference is in more modern recording devices 😁 Tim I think the valve may have behaved a little better when it was brand-new, but also it can be silenced by ...
