Please can I ask if you could keep an eye out and report back to me if it is seen, so I can pass the information to the Police . Stolen from SE London/Kent area. Re: Boulton Mamodifications

There's an ' Introduction to ' article by Tag Gorton in the April issue of Garden Rail, with the prospect of a further article on his modifications & makeover. However, if you surf to his Facebook page ( https://www.facebook.com/Cornwallsteam/ ) you can already see his makeover, including a vide...

RH dont show the Tenders on their website, how do you get to find out size information? They are listed under the relevant locomotive kits, but no sizes are (or were) provided. Re: Mamod Stirling

Chris Cairns - that's interesting, and suggests cash flow problems could be a possibility. Much as I hate to ask the question, is there any hint that we might lose the Mamod company altogether? It is interesting how the written English language can be interpreted, as that is not how I interpret my ...

Re: Mamod Stirling

I was looking forward to some reviews on the Stirling as I really like the look of it The problem with the current review policy is there is no longevity or durabilty testing. Mike Wakefield has one of the two review piston valve Thomas Telford's, and just over 2 years later he had to fit replaceme...

Re: New Addition to the CCLW Roster

With thanks to Graham Austin of Garden Railways Ltd. for turning down a Regner Part No. 30201 to make it a 30202, so that I could fit the Accucraft syphon pipe to the Ruby's steam turret. Ruby Pressure Gauge 02.JPG Ruby Pressure Gauge 03.JPG I can now see the safety valve holds 50 PSI. Chris Cairns

Re: Copper pipe

I did watch the video Tom, but why would you use one please. Can’t or do I need one for gas fired. For my gas fired locos without a chuffer pipe fitted I loosely hold a piece of rag or kitchen towel over the chimney to catch the condensate being cleared out of the cylinders/pipework at the start of...

Re: Copper pipe

Be interested to hear if you have any problems with exhaust back pressure by putting the condensate clearing pipe directly over the exhaust pipe/blast nozzle Tom. My Riverdale Elke conversion is still pending - I wish to run my Billy under radio control first before continuing with the conversion. C...

Thanks for pointing out what to do with these sight glass tubes Tony.

The only Wrightscale Baldwin I've seen in the flesh has been fitted with a replacement boiler.

Re: Blowtorch and 220g Butane cylinders

Whilst running on 'Glendreich' at the Bala Lake Railway last year, members of the Chester, Merseyside & East Clwyd Group showed us an alternative canister adaptor that gets over that stand pipe problem. 3 legged adaptor.jpg They are listed on eBay as 3 legged or tripod adapter/converter. The oth...

Re: LVLR new addition (NOT A GARRATT)

Newly arrived yesterday: Quite an elderly gent, still has 27meg radio! Nice looking loco. Is this the one John Sutton was selling? I agree with descaling the boiler. If you rotate the loco vertical (smokebox at the bottom) whilst agitating (shaking) it should clear out the sight glass tube. Also wo...

Re: New Addition to the CCLW Roster

As a (cheaper) alternative to the propriety wooden locomotive boxes I obtained some Fat 50 Cal ammo boxes. With the prospect of 45mm running later this year, I've put this Ruby into storage using one of these ammo boxes. Ruby Loco Box S.JPG Accucraft UK only had a double union nut syphon pipe in sto...

Re: New Addition to the CCLW Roster

I do like the Ruby kits and I have been very tempted, it would be great if a 32mm version was offered. I've seen a couple of 32mm conversions, but in its current American loco style I do not think there would be sufficient demand for Accucraft UK to have a 32mm version engineered, and by the time y...

Re: New Addition to the CCLW Roster

Bill Allen wrote an article in the US mag 'Steam in the Garden' (Issue 137) on modifying Accucraft piston valve gear by opening up the ports to improve the valve events. As built, the valve events are poor, as the valves open late and have exhaust lap, which is not a good combination for efficient ...

Re: 71 Mile Garden Railway anyone?? Channel 4 - 7th Jan

Discussion of this project has gone rather vocal online elsewhere, and indirectly has caused a Moderator of the 16mm NGM Association Facebook Group to resign. But consider this. It was never intended initially to build a garden railway. It actually started out as a model railway from Liverpool to Go...

Another fantastic SM32 conversion Tony, with yet another one waiting in the wings.

Like Rik & others I've yet to come across these amazing charity shop finds, but I do now carry my Jurassic Models 16mm scale ruler in my wallet to hunt out any 16mm scale bargains at the £1 shops.

Re: Progress pics of my Roundhouse Billy kit

Re: New Addition to the CCLW Roster

The St A & M Railway has gradients, so I was a little apprehensive about her first run on track, even more so after seeing a manual controlled Accucraft Bagnall derail before my go. I decided to initially run her back & forth on the level section, and after that went OK, off she went around ...

Refitting the original exhaust pipe sorted out the burner. As you will see if you watch the video, recording came to an abrupt halt due to external interference!
