Re: HGLW loco tweak

My HGLW loco - an LB1 - was Moel Rhos' first is still the most used. Same chassis. I do really like that steeple cab, have been sorely tempted many times. This is not that similar - not even narrow gauge - but it's one of my favourites: https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/6/6b/Hellingly_R...

Re: The Railway in the Valley of the Mill

How long will the completed line be? And how long will it take to complete a single trip? Depends how fast you go of course, but back in May it took me 13 minutes to get to just this side of the steps in Trevor's photos... I was wondering if there was an equivalent to acetone for PLA so looked it u...

Re: Mamod Brunel

It's single cylinder isn't it? So starting it (normally) requires the 'hand of god' in the form of spinning the flywheel. Certainly that's how it is with my single cylinder Regner Konrad, which I've fitted R/C to anyway - it's useful being able to control the speed and stop it remotely, and most imp...

Magnificent. Somehow, just absolutely 'right', like that's the only way a 3'6" gauge blue BR Garratt could possibly look.

Re: Palmerston - Small England Loco as built

I was going to put the sheep wagon into the files section so everyone can use the files. So if you were to try it with the support settings I set out in an earlier post, and at the same sort of angle I have used it will be interesting to see how it comes out. We can compare parameters in detail off...

Re: Palmerston - Small England Loco as built

I have to confess the finish is amazing. It makes me think that I should try bigger stuff in my Whale 2 and see what happens, but to be fair, I don't have the faith in it that I have on my AnyCubic printers, which mine are smaller ones. :dontknow: Oh dear. I should have bought an AnyCubic rather th...

Re: The continuious quiz

This one's either insanely easy or unnecessarily opaque and I can't tell which, but in the interest of fairness I'll gladly accept either of her names. 'Insanely easy' is giving me the (almost certainly misplaced) confidence to suggest that the lettering "A-4" could imply that it's... an ...

Re: Palmerston - Small England Loco as built

I remember that! I considered getting a magnetic plate for mine. I didn't. Obviously a mistake! Although I have got better at prising the prints off since then - at the time I was having to use so much force they were snapping or flying off into forgotten corners of the shed...

Re: Palmerston - Small England Loco as built

the build volume of this resin printer is bigger than that of my filament printer. Same here. I have been, just for comparison, printing the parts from Rik's GVT wagon on both printers. On the filament printer I need to cut the wagon side and then reassemble, and it's a visible part. With resin, no...

Re: Palmerston - Small England Loco as built

Really useful thread. I must post about all the problems I am having with resin printing, and I would not have even attempted your chassis orientation for fear that supports would be insufficient to pull that much surface area off the FEP. So it's really good to know that's possible. I am curious wh...

Re: Found a new Hudson Hunslet kit

I have obtained one of these kits. I have not started building it yet, but it looks promising. I would like to add more detail. I have found some photographs on the internet, but I cannot find a drawing. Does anybody have drawings or other information about the cab layout and engine that they would...

Very interesting. The Regner Max was part wood. Trevor's printed ABS steam powered 4420 is also proof of the possibilities of mixed media steam locos!

Oh dear, your pictures Peter are showing me details I guessed at (wrongly) on mine, which are printed from Red Star’s drawings. Ah well, best not to look too closely! https://photos.simonwood.info/i?/uploads/h/h/7/hh7xrynhca//2023/11/12/20231112125607-49202f9b-la.jpg https://photos.simonwood.info/i?...
