Re: The Potters Orchid Railway
Thanks for that Dazza. I fully understand and totally agree with all you've said. I once actually recorded how long it took me to scratchbuild a 4mm scale "Dean Single" loco and it came in at just over 600 hours, at a time when a labour rate would have been around £20 an hour. Who would ha...

Re: What are the ins and outs of plastic rail?
Jim, Just to clarify, by "plastic track" I assume you mean metal ( brass, N/s, etc) rail on plastic sleepers? I'll let others answer fully although I'm not aware that plastic sleepers are a significant problem with live steam. In answer to your question on compatibility between manufacture...

What a superb job!!
Can't wait to see it in the 'miniscape'... leave the de-gooping, she'll never notice (much!)

Re: Ginnerbeck viaduct for Rylston Light
I read them, honest. I followed them, initially. However, after a few minutes nothing seemed to be happening so I topped them up to three-quarters full. This resulted in the foam expanding first to the top of the pier - success. Then it continued to form a loaf-like mass above the opening - mild fa...

Re: Ginnerbeck viaduct for Rylston Light
That is most impressive Andy. Both the process and the end result.
Looking forward to seeing the result of your secret reason for it.
As for mould material I only have very limited experience but I found that Tomps A20 RTV worked well for things like window frames. It sets in about 20mins

Re: Types of power transmission to the wheels for a scratch built
I assume you are talking about transmission from one axle to another in an 0-4-0 and 0-6-0? In my very limited experience of using rubber, etc, bands of any sort, getting the tension right is absolutely critical and very difficult to do. On the other hand, using Delrin chain ( Not metal) and sprocke...

SEPTEMBER 2020 Photo Gallery LAST DAY TOMORROW (15th)
Rik's suggestion for the theme of the next Gallery is: Railway idyll" Looking out of the window as I'm typing, all I can see is heavy grey cloud and trees bending in the stiff wind, far from idyllic but I live in hope....! So rules as before, but with one change. It hasn't really been an ...

Re: NEW FWLR LINE
Thanks Phil. I could take the board out again and take the tunnel off and paint all of it, but it's one heck of a pig doing that. You could probably get away with just painting both ends inside as far as an arm can reach (make sure you start painting inside and work back to the tunnel mouth!!). The...

Re: 3D double diesel
Not sure how to do that. I will investigate... I think all you need to do is go to the original Thingiverse file pages and click the "Post a make" link on the RHS to upload still pics. ( I guess you'd need to do it on both the original and 'Remake' pages?) Screenshot 2020-07-03 06.06.23.p...
