Re: The Potters Orchid Railway
Were there 2 snakes? The last 2 pictures look like a red belly black snake, if it is that would have made putting your hand into the tunnel to fix a derailment very interesting. [/quote] One snake, Plod has confirmed it is a "Crown Snake" they can have red tones on their belly and some ti...

Re: The Potters Orchid Railway
Saturday afternoon Captain Plod with a glass of Red in hand was testing MAM's Cranmore with it's recently fitted RC to the regulator. The loco had been running for a while (40 -43min run times) then for the first time there was a derailment in the Orchid House tunnel. Whiskey Tango Foxtrot! Launch ...

Plod was on the right track but his inspiration and direction was confirmed when MAM found photos of some one else who had done similar. https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/53150713367_04a11cafde_b.jpg https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/53151492439_6de3a216f5_b.jpg https://live.staticflickr.com/65...

Re: Llewellyn Loco Works #1
Glad you had a great time in the UK. Hopefully we will get to see you again in the near future, although I know it must take some organising and not to mention the cost. I did get to meet you though and that was such a thrill to see someone with your abilities. Take it easy and rest, it must take i...

Re: Llewellyn Loco Works #1
Captain Plod tested the water pump and he was pleased the inclusion of a 1.60mm cross hole in the banjo bolt seems to make it work. Who would have thought that would be important ? Next is the bypass valve to receive some attention. He was never very happy with it, but he has a cunning plan. https:...

Re: Llewellyn Loco Works #1
Plod made his Goodall valve to some published dimensions. It leaked a wee bit at times. Looked at a Round House one and the shank for the silicon tube is 3.50mm rather than 3.175mm. Sunday morning after writing some jibber for RITG magazine he hacked at some LG2. https://live.staticflickr.com/65535...

Re: Llewellyn Loco Works #1
Finally got back to some bench testing and then some runs on the POR metals Welsh grains and every now and then some lumps of Gunnadah is tossed in for effect and aroma. All went well with steaming times over 90 mins till the grate needed a clean. New bar grate much better than the Rosebud. New Rou...

I did not know you are in the queue for Mr Specture. I have the box ready, maybe a quick detour via your neck of the woods. Email me darrell@llewellynbikesc.com Oh I was in the queue, in fact I was the one responsible for his detour to the Southern Hemisphere! But, I had to delay and later withdraw...

Slomo in the tender, a zero back lash coupling to the tender. However Terry has stopped making Slomos so I will have to make my own if there is a next time. Next is a 4 1/2" scale Foden Steam Lorry to the REx drawings. There is no one in the world that can convince me that Slomos are a waste o...

Benismmo and Captain Plod said good bye to Mr Specture. Later this week Mr Specture will be off on to a new railway. Stay tuned for more reports. He has plenty of material and promises to write more reports up as soon as his head clears. (Crikey he can sink some Aussie Red Wine!) https://live.stati...

Re: The Potters Orchid Railway
The Potters Orchid Railway just had a weekend invite run to replace the planned new years eve bash that was cancelled due to the covid outbreak in the POR staff. It was a big production for MAM and Captain Plod with assistance over the weekend by Maestro and his good lad, Banksy was OIC of the yard...
