I've voted for George - but with the caveat that I'd build it without the tender and with tank-top coal bunkers and a full cab back. I reckon that'd make a lovely little loco...

Good luck with your build, whatever you decide!

Re: New Roundhouse Bulldog

A note for Andrew of the (WH)WR - You should have copyrighted your con-rod colour choice! Could have charged them royalties for the idea...  ;) Yep, there's another get-rich-quick opportunity lost... It's a nice-looking loco, love the cab window shape, and you're right, it looks good in yellow. As ...

Hello, Glad you like the crossing, I was pleased with how it turned out. The crossing timbers are some wooden sleepers I was given years ago, quite possibly so old that the creosote's the real thing. You might be able to get some secondhand somewhere - or drop me a pm and I could stick some spare on...

Now that's a nice idea! Completely different architecture at each station, with trains to match - and the pleasing juxtaposition when an Indian train ends up in Norway, or a Norwegian one in Ireland...

Hello! You'll be pleased to hear that I've given this a lot of thought (well, more than I should have!) and have cast my vote, but so far I seem to be in something of a minority! Tempting as it is to imagine Millie repainted in a garish two-tone livery (I'm thinking of those Indian locos with the di...

Evening all... Despite the weather I ran some trains over the BH weekend, but it wasn't all plain sailing... On Saturday I took the WD Baldwin out for the first time in a year - the lack of use was partly because the track needed fettling to suit its rather sensitive pony truck and partly because I'...

Ooh, that looks interesting, and lots of fun to operate too. I know from experience that easy access is important - both ends of my line feature slightly tricky run-rounds, one because of a large bush and the other because a very inconvenient tunnel... I reckon I'd be tempted to combine carriage she...

Congratulations Mr and Mrs B! I managed to squeeze the NYMR into our honeymoon and a ride on the Severn Valley on our first anniversary, but seem to have lost the knack since then. It'll be 15 years next May, maybe I can sort something for that - our anniversary usually coincides with a gala on my f...

I think it was a rubber ribbon - it seems to have bounced the train off in the opposite direction!

It looks like a very nice line, thanks for the photos!

I thought that too... Is that a new cab-back among the other mods, or the original? I've never really liked the mostly-open look RH use for Billy and others... Not that I'd say no to a Billy mind you...

Lovely photos, thanks for posting them.

Thanks for the kind comments chaps, glad you enjoyed the photos... My plum trains were partly inspired by Brian Clarke (Saltford Models) articles in SMT over 20 years ago - lots of agricultural goings-on with grotty little trucks! I'm enjoying your use of the word "bucolic" to describe my ...

Oooh, it looks a lot nicer in blue... If you were to remove the daft-looking lamp from the roof (it'd look much nicer on the rear bunker instead of that lumpy thing) and replaced the oversized sight glass RH seem keen on nowadays I'd almost go so far as to say it was attractive... Mind you, my loco ...

Thanks Andrew, I also was inspired by a 009 layout which we used to take to exhibitions when I was a member of the SKLR I was about 14 then. The layout was quite well done and what I liked was the viaduct that ran around half the layout in a continuous loop, there was also a few bits of rolling sto...

Hello! I got back from a fortnight's holiday to find that the plum tree was in urgent need of harvesting - some of the fruit had begun to split or rot on the tree. Naturally a train was required but the need to fit it in between rain showers meant that this year I opted for battery power - here's Ma...

I like the turntable scene, especially the "very low-relief" shed - I plan to do something similar with some quarry gates, my quarry being the other side of a similar obstacle!

Cheers,

Andrew.
