Re: 10 Year Challenge

I'll bite even though it's another vain social media craze for pointless people to be worshipped for looking a certain way over 10 years! 10-year-challenge_wallet_IT_1547711452110-01.jpeg Slightly related to this; my last new engine (Silver Lady) was bought in 2008... Interestingly, this annoying f...

Re: Botch Idea

I've spoken to Rob, though he thinks its possible there'd need to be some significant alterations to the coach chassis in order to get the WD bogie overhang (as they'd sit inside the body otherwise). Whilst researching I stumbled upon Timpdon models, specifically these: http://www.timpdon.co.uk/timp...

Re: Two days of running on the RWLR

How do the magnetic uncouplers work Tom? Are they standard Accucraft choppers that you've modified?

Re: Botch Idea

My only worry with the WD bogies is that they would overhand the ends of the coach (as per Ashover) and I wouldn't want it to look weird. Only one way to find out I suppose! The original Ashover carriages had that bogie overhang (sounds painful...) and the Wembly carriages that ended up there: http...

Re: Botch Idea

It's rather a nice idea I think, and will work well if you do end up having to go for tight-ish curves. Yonks ago I did something similar with a Brandbright 4 wheel brake compo (a little shorter than the Swift Sixteen model) and Big Big Train bogies, which I was always fond of - and from a distance...

Botch Idea

Hello Folks, I'm pondering something which in my head looks great, but in reality may not even work! I'm thinking of building a Swift Sixteen four wheeled coach (https://www.swiftsixteen.co.uk/Classic-Full-Observation-Four-Wheel-Coach) but mounting it on their WWI WD bogies to make something reminis...

Re: Roundhouse Lady Anne Regner whistle fitting

This is most impressive and have been following with interest. I admire you for doing it, I have neither the skill, tools nor space to give it a crack, and I think I'd lack the confidence to even if I had all those things! Top job

tom_tom_go wrote: Tue Jan 08, 2019 11:07 pm Rather than drawing it by hand you can use the AnyRail software I mentioned very easy to use honest!
The difficulty is my only Windows laptop is my work one, and I'm not sure they'd be completely happy with me installing it. I use Mac otherwise which I don't think AnyRail support

Re: Radii

Sorry Andrew, had forgotten that was your Russell!

I've done proper measurements of the garden so I'll try and do a scale drawing and see what I can make fit, then run it my the good lady for authorisation

Re: Radii

So we've finally moved in. Just been out on the garden to measure (there is concern from her Ladyship on railway impact) to see if it's feasible or if I should just back up now and put some 009 in the loft. The garden is about 40ft long-ish and about 25ft wide, with a garage in one corner and a pati...

Re: Radii

That's helpful, thanks guys! 3' radius did seem too small (although apparently the Accucraft Manning Wardle can take it!), so I'll get into the garden and see what the largest radius it could fit would be (and that the wife would allow)

Thanks guys!
