Re: A Garage For FWLR

Rod,
I remember in years past, some people were using Meccano gears to form corrugations.
The parts can still be found in the usual auction sites.
Two standard rods in Meccano trunions with the gears nicely meshing.
May need several gears butted together, and a winding handle.

Roundhouse Taliesin

Hello All, Just back after lengthy absence. Of course, only because I have a question... Does anybody have experience of dismantling/fettling RH Taliesin inside valve gear? The loco had a problem in it's second year, repaired under warranty. RH said a locking pin had backed off the die block and jam...

I had exactly this problem with a second hand Edrig.
Bought a new valve from Chuffed2bits.
Then managed to pick out the muck with a needle.

Notchy curves

This link is to a pic I posted on G Scale Central some while ago... One comment admired the sweep of the curves into the station, but if you study the rails closely, the slight kinks can be seen. The track is Peco flexi 32mm, radius is 2'6". http://www.gscalecentral.co.uk/f/download.axd?file=0;...

Keith, The jig - rail bender - is good practice. I've never used one, and have lots of slightly notchy curves, in my Peco 32mm track. With care you should be able to hand-bend your rail. It's good to slightly over-curve the rail, so that it can spring back a little. There's a natural tendency for th...

Forming a circle

Keith, you really need to remove the rail from the sleeper base, and bend to the require radius, preferably with a bending jig, then slide the rails back into the sleeper base, and trim off the excess. You may need to cut away some of the sleeper webbing to get the base to curve properly. It's possi...

Track cleaning

There's a good deal of discussion and advice on this matter on the G Scale Central forum.  Since electricity is involved, people seem to advise bonding or rail clamps.

Looks distinctly like the IP Engineering "Jane", or a PPS variant "Jenny" or "Janet".
All styled after the original Mamod, but with improved engineering.

I was told recently that metal bridges are usually painted light grey to reflect sunlight (what little we get!!), and minimize expansion.

I'm assuming he means the power cunsumption was unchanged, still 4p/h, meaning no cost advantage in switching to LED's.

I'm willing to be corrected - please.

I rather think the general idea of the kit would be to build it and paint it yourself - in which case it'd be any colour you want! :D
Well, I did sort of know that, just expressing an opinion.
Presumably a kit in MDF would be a muddy brown.
