Re: New member - looking for pointers
Welcome to the forum! LGB gear ain't cheap, as I'm sure you already know. $71 for a starter set is a steal in any condition. 8) You won't regret going R/C, I don't miss dealing with track power in HO.. I'm not aware of any ready-made R/C US-outline locos, but I'll echo that track powered stuff is ge...

Re: Full size railway reference and picture thread
I'm currently building my first variable-gauge (sliding wheels) loco to run on a friend's LGB set, and this sounds just crazy enough to try once. Does anyone have any more info on this layout? I have to imagine a lot of zig-zagging on the wider sections. Damn, I'd love to see that when you're ready...

Wonderful job you're making of that. The last photo looks damn-near 1:1 scale.

Re: N&BLR Ongoing Projects thread
Welcome back! While 3d printing is terrific, it's nice to see a scratchbuild of complex prototypes.
Fence-mounted signal is a nice touch too.

Re: Biting the bullet - wholesale conversion from 45mm to SM32
It certainly is a lot of work, but these wagons needed a lot of work done anyway.. Modding older O gauge track sounds the best way to go, the newer closer-to-scale rail may be too short in height. I think Peco SM32 is code 200, for reference. 21/05/23 With the trucks done, I set about converting a f...

Looking very tidy!
Given the natural tendency to "load up" a Garratt with a long train, would it be worth beefing up that worm/sprocket motor mount?

Aye, a battery loco would be much better than a Mamod/MSS. They're very much a tinkerer's loco, and take a lot of work to make them run properly.

What an exhibition!
When you factor in shipping and customs fees, that Bundy would've been a thousand AUD cheaper than mine turned out!
And give yourself more credit, they're excellent photos.

I haven't used one, but there is also the Boot Lane Works chassis: https://bootlane.org.uk/shop/kits/locos/No6 I'm sure you could replace the motor with a similarly sized 12v one if desired. That might work. I'll look further into it when the time eventually comes.. :study: In the meantime, the can...
