You make it look so easy, Philip. I wonder why, when I tried the same method (ie pulling up a solid slab and the pushing down the panes), the resultant window wouldn't print. Maybe it was because I had to export it as a Collada file rather than a .STL?

Looks great already, Peter. The buildings will provide an attractive backdrop to that part of the railway.

I'm looking forward to seeing how it should be done. Thanks for responding to the challenge, Philip.

Re: 3D Printed buffers
Mine prints intermittently, dependent on need. Hard to put a figure in it. At the moment, it's printing virtually every hour I can find time for it - churning out nearly 60 parts for the beam engine intended for the boneworks engine house. Some parts are tiny and take a couple of minutes to print, b...

Re: Bone Works
Incidentally, I have created a little tutorial on my blog showing how TinkerCAD can be used to produce bespoke window frames. Hopefully, I've included sufficient info for people to be able to transfer the techniques to drawing other items. https://riksrailway.blogspot.com/2020/08/how-i-drew-window-f...

Re: Garden Rail Magazine
Thanks Phil
I eventually found a supplier (https://www.newsstand.co.uk/) that would sell me a single copy (for a price!) and had some left in stock.

Re: Bone Works
Just fyi, the brickwork is English garden wall bond! So perhaps you may think a strange choice for a building. However, it uses fewer facing bricks and gives a good spread of lateral load. Who knew my building construction and fire engineering studies would be of use 40 years later! Thanks Phil I s...

Always good to see a bit of civil engineering under way. It sounds like it will add both operational and scenic interest.

Re: Garden Rail Magazine
Does anyone know where I can buy a single printed copy? My daughter wants a copy and I can't find it in WH Smiths or Sainsbury's and when I look online I can only find subscriptions for a minimum of three months. I already subscribe to the digital edition and I got a free (hard) copy this month, but...

Looks like good progress is being made. No wonder your posts take so long to write, you have a fine attention to detail in both your writing and your modelling.

Re: Bone Works
I think window frames would be an excellent starting point. I reckon most people buy frames when making their models and sometimes compromises need to be made to make the model fit the frames available. Also, quite a few techniques can be demonstrated with a even a simple window frame. I was about t...

Great bit of modelling and excellent video editing.
Good to see the cat making an appearance as well - much more visible this time!

Just discovered a rather fine looking beam engine on Thingiverse which can actually be made to work ... https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1350988 It looks like I'm going to be firing up the 3D printer once more. By the look of the accompanying video, I may not have to rescale it, which will be a rel...
