Glad you like 'em folks... "A hint of neglect" was pretty much the look I was going for - in my revision of history, instead of being scrapped in 1897 they were shunted to the back of Dinas carriage shed as stores vehicles, only to be hauled out and patched up for use on the Clarach branch...

Evening all, This afternoon saw some trains run on the (WH)WHR - here's a few photos... First up was a works train, which trundled up to Penlan to collect the blocks of slate that had formed the platform edge - the whole station will be re-modeled and the edging blocks re-used at Trefechan: http://i...

I had to dig for quite a while to find this thread! Dave Mees at Abbey Bach is making me some spectacle hoods for this loco, so I thought I'd sort some of the other mods necessary to "590-ise" my little loco while I wait, starting with the cab back. I've opted for the later, garden shed-in...

Hello again, Over the last couple of evenings I managed to finish off the two NWNGR four wheelers that I've been working on for a while - and here they are: http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d174/cosmobonsor/Rolling%20stock%20construction/WP_20160423_13_17_28_Pro_zpssfea7chv.jpg And an interior view...

It's all looking very good, thanks for the update! I really like the carriages (IP mini L&B?), and the shot of them sitting in the bay too - it has a real sense of "something about to happen"... I've found earth creeping down from walls etc to be a bit of an issue, but planting does he...

Evening all, Apparently this is my thousandth post on this forum - what a lot of words... It seems appropriate to mark this milestone with the the usual account of small steps forward and minor setbacks that make up the life of the (Windmill Hill) Welsh Highland, so here goes... Yesterday afternoon ...

Your neighbours must be wondering what on earth's going on!!! Depending on how well they already know you they might be even more surprised when they realise what the white line really represents... I remember well the piles of useful building material that had to be moved before each stretch of lin...

Hello again,

Don't know about the inside frames, but it's a chunky little loco so I reckon a 3' version would've been a possibility...

Will it go into your standard green?

Andrew.

Hi all, Glad you like it! Yes, a little wear and tear on the footboards is a favourite trick of mine - there's something about it that feels like it has to have been made by the passage of little feet and makes the thing seem more real as a result. David, yes, I do like 'em "lived in", alt...

Hi Rik,

I reckon it's the WHHR's Bagnall, Gelert:

It looks like a kind of rough approximation rather than a scale model - I've got drawings somewhere...

Cheers,

Andrew.

Evening all, Finally, over 18 months after I started it, I reckon I can finally declare my WHR "Summer Car" complete - I managed to grab a quick photo just before the rain started: http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d174/cosmobonsor/Rolling%20stock%20construction/WP_20160414_16_54_46_Pro_zp...

Yes, the Summer Car's a scratchbuild - I'm just about to tackle the roof now, photos tomorrow I hope. I might have to try some of your Glue and Glaze, sounds useful. I currently use a Wilco general adhesive that goes stringy but then peels off, not bad but yours might be better... No glue in the cur...

All sounds like sound advice to me... I've got 1 in 50 gradients but underestimated the effect of sharp curves as well. I made the sharpest curves level, but the train's still negotiating those as the loco hits the next gradient - it's quite tricky to get a smooth run! If you can give me a couple of...

That's looking really good, and you're right, the roof does fit very nicely indeed. Some of my earlier carriages could really do with their roofs taking off and lots of trusses adding - some roofs aren't terribly flush with the cant rail, and others have a noticeable dip in the middle... Coincidenta...

I was quite relieved - nice if you like that sort of thing but nothing that's likely bto cause me to break open the piggy bank. And then I heard that Locoworks are to produce a r-t-r Ffestiniog "England", and my little piggy started looking worried again... As far as it's possible to "...

Oooh, I like the new bogie open, and the bogies that sit underneath them...

I don't need a turntable but I was playing my usual "how would I fit a railway into this garden game" at my in-laws this morning, and it would fit the scenario I came up with there beautifully...

Cheers,

Andrew.
