Re: Gordon Diplock

Hi Peter, I've just dug out these recollections I posted at the time when the video of the railcar was posted here: I met Gordon a few times when I was very new to the hobby, he always seemed to have something interesting to play with and could build stuff at a most prolific rate. I recall him once ...

Re: Jurassic models Baldwin cab back kit

Hello! Sorry, a little late in the day (I've not been around much!), but if it's still of use, here's the Jurassic Baldwin cab back: Baldwin back.jpg It's designed to slot right down into the bunker, but I had to modify it because that's where the RC kit lives on mine. The kit leaves you to sort the...

Andrew and the Chocolate Factory

Hello all, As promised (well, a little later than promised really...), here's a thread about the indoor line I'm currently building very loosely based on the old Fry's chocolate factory at Keynsham. The factory was connected to the GWR London-Bristol mainline, and had its own Sentinel loco for shunt...

Re: The (Windmill Hill) Welsh Highland Railway

Hello again! Thanks again to those that voted for the Avon Valley Railway's "Chocolate Train" - we got the money! The wagon restoration team can now order the timber they need to rebuild a BR brake van to run with the old Frys factory Sentinel when it returns to steam later this year - tha...

Re: The (Windmill Hill) Welsh Highland Railway

Thanks for the votes - and for the fantastic story! I believe there was a "transfer" to Somerdale twice a day, usually pannier hauled - although apparently the rule book allowed anything except a railcar, so it could theoretically have been a King... Perhaps the chocolate girls were unawar...

Re: The (Windmill Hill) Welsh Highland Railway

Ah, it's good to be back! I've been having a look round and there's so much inspirational stuff going on - I'll participate properly again once I've got a little more modelling time... In the meantime, that chocolate factory microlayout idea keeps bubbling away... I had a bit of a brainwave this morn...

Re: The (Windmill Hill) Welsh Highland Railway

Hello all! It's been an awfully long time since I've been here, but it's good to see lots of familiar faces (well, names...) and some new ones too - I hope this finds you all well... I've done very little in the way of modelling or running trains over the last 18 months, so there's not much to repor...

Evening all, As mentioned previously, recent work on the line has involved tidying it up a little, particularly around Trefechan, which has always been rather neglected. The long siding has been relaid, the slate wall/ledge it sits upon glued and grouted into place, and the whole station site has be...

Very impressive! It was enough to make me consider converting to choppers for a moment... I'll just have to get really proficient with my shunting pole...

That's very impressive! All that shunting before anything actually "happens", and not a single derailment!

Thanks for a very interesting little film,

Andrew.

It has been an enjoyable project and I can't wait to try the coach on a garden line next Sunday, with my other homebuilt NWNG/WHR stock, as I don't have one of my own. Hopefully the weather will pick up again. Pictures will follow. Yes please! I'm sure they'll be a sight to behold, it's a lovely ca...

Hello,

I think I've compared the dimensions of IP's WHR stuff (given on the website) against drawings in the past and found it to be pretty accurate, ie not "scaled". The MDF sounds grim though...

Very nice! The WHHR ought to consider Brunswick Green for the real thing when they've finished the current overhaul on "Gelert"... The red rods look great too.

I enjoyed the video too - I'm considering a timber siding for my line and feel suitably inspired...

Was the class 40 a green one? There was a very nice shiny one on the Tech Centre at Derby at the start of last week but it shuffled off somewhere on Friday. Andrew Yes, it looked lovely. The 45 was in an unusual version of blue. Unless I've got them muddled up, which is a possibility... I can just ...

Hello again, Yesterday saw an unusual amount of progress on the (WH)WHR, focussing on the previously rather neglected Trefechan station area. I cleared an area behind the station which had served as a spoil heap during construction, held in place by a retaining wall of loose bricks. Various bits of ...

Now we have our own laser cutter running (I think I first mentioned it when we got it over a year ago so it shows how long we have taken with it), I will certainly be keen to have a go at cutting one. No problem, I'll pm you when the drawings are ready - they need some tweaking... Even then my gues...
