The consequences for the driver's of trains that strike vehicles/people can be life changing, even if the driver survives without injury. And clearing up the remains is very traumatic.

That looks the business! And the shade of green works very well with the lining. Lining is something I need to attempt - I can't afford to get my engines done professionally but it would be nice to line them out.

Re: A relaxing watch.
Well, we don't have such ridiculous climbs as Mt. Washington, but our Schafbergbahn doesn't have to hide either. A difference in altitude of 1200 meters (3937 ft) is overcome. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A849T3Gc1VI It is run with the original steam-powered (very rare) locomotives or with newer...

Re: Yr Hen Felin & Yr Orsaf Newydd
Riveting fun for a wet Friday morning:- I have a Plateway Narrow Milk Van in construction (it's in the paint shop now!) which has lots of hinges. Taking comfort from the fact that I have glued rivets to a couple of engines I decided to have a go at the hinges. I ordered some 3mm nail art to do rive...

Glad you made it home safe n sound. Your green Chilean HC looks as though it's been dropped at some point, looking at the bend in the running plate. I hope you can return it to running order👍🏻 The footplate is made that way, to accommodate the inclined cylinders. Great photos! Ah, understood. Never...

That looks good Phil, and more prototypical for NG I feel.gilfachphil wrote: ↑Thu Oct 19, 2023 12:55 pm Rod,
you and Anne will be very welcome.
A picture of the reduced platform height, it's now only a couple of mm above rail height so hope that works. Not finished fixing yet.

Re: Full size railway reference and picture thread
A couple of reference shots of boiler backheads/firebox for those wanting to produce feasible detail in the cab, inspired by a conversation in Peter Butler's thread on his railway. Green Dragon at South Tynedale Railway showing cab layout, IMG_20230930_100814688.jpg and a screen grab from a YouTube ...

Thanks Phil, The plastic is Stokbord which I got at my local Wynnstay Farmer’s shop. Peter has been over this afternoon and we investigated the platform with some of his locos and rolling stock. I think I will take up your suggestion and reduce the height by half below the plastic top. This should ...

Re: Zach Bond "Momentum Van" project
Well, it's only taken two years to get that momentum truck finished. As mentioned a few posts back, my intent was for this to be a former sugar cane truck, with an added molasses tank to hide the mechanism. I couldn't however figure out a tank design that would hide the mech, without looking too la...

Your line has matured beautifully and blends well into the garden, and the time and effort put into those carriages has been well worthwhile. As they say - Rome wasn't built in a day!

Re: Time to build a railway...but where?
My word, you have been busy (as usual😅) whilst I've been away. It makes my offer of finding examples of cab interiors somewhat redundant for you, but I will add a couple of pictures to the 'full size examples' post for the benefit of others - it would probably be worth adding a link to that video to...
