Re: 16mm scale "Linda"
As an inspiration, here is a screen grab from a Youtube video I have linked in one of my previous posts: blanche_small.jpg don't know how good it is and not sure whether he actually uses if functionally? rather than just cosmetically? and... here, resonable picture of full size thing: piping.jpg Wou...

...A bit crude I know but it seems to have worked... it's remarkable how forgiving these little steam engines are  ...I think Don Ashton gives a better way... Yes, he does. Setting (or making them) as a pair is definitely much better than juggling four eccentrics  ...I could only ...

Re: 16mm scale "Linda"
Hi Trevor, what advance did you use for the eccentric (either angular or linear dimension), please?Trevor Thompson wrote: ↑Sat Nov 07, 2020 9:10 pm The eccentric:

The centre for the axle is offset from the centre of the eccentric by 3.5mm.
According to Charles drawings, as designed it has 1/32" steam lap.

Re: 16mm scale "Linda"
So I am not the only one who struggled with his software... It's not just a software. The book is hard read as well. Don was extremely knowledgable and very respected but as far as I am concerned the master of the subject doesn't necessarily make the best teacher of it ;) I am still persevering tho...

...since I have suitable black paint and I am sure I can find the right colours for the lining... You could have her totally black with no lining as per this photo of the prototype: https://flic.kr/p/9SMW7d ...The valve gear design software I have been using is Don Ashton's, which is accompanied by...

Re: 16mm scale "Linda"
...I never expected this thread to generate so much knowledgable response!... Hardly surprising  (at least to me) There are few threads detailing succesful 16mm loco builds with full proper Stephenson gear. Like yourself, I don't care much for slip eccentric ;) and prefer the idea of RC co...

Re: 16mm scale "Linda"
Yes the drawings are actually for Charles. ... I also did a bit of interweb searching and found family connection between Charles, Linda and Blanche :) ...If I remember correctly two of the three locos are very similar.. Yes, the two that ended up at Ffestiniog (Blanche and Linda) are very similar,...

Re: 16mm scale "Linda"
Excellent Trevor :thumbright: Wanted to have a look at the drawings, but the only one listed in "steammodelloco 16mm" group is "Charles"- Penrhyn Quarry ' main line' loco Charles. Looks very much like your loco... (apart from the lack of tender and no drawing of alternative Steph...

Re: Further Improvements to a Roundhouse Fowler
I love the photo of loco running in the rain - it looks "very realistic" :thumbright: Keep up the good work Aaron - all the "toy like" gloss converted into dull flat paint does wonders for the appearance of your loco. I hope you will eventually get it "properly dirty" a...

Re: Louvre Doors
Assuming that you can borrow it from your local library (I know - long shot) Gerald Wingrove's "The Complete Car Modeller 2" on pages 83-84 explains in detail how he produced louvres for his Bugatti. His model is scaled at 1:15 so roughly comparable to your 16mm scale (1:19). He makes the ...

That's lovely Dave :thumbright: Can you please give us some more details? for example - how big is the body of this lubricator? Did you build it exactly as per Mason's book or have you used the book as an inspiration and adapted the design for your needs? Mason's book (long out of print) is nowadays...

On Youtube anybody can watch your videos. On 24Trains.tv only those who are prepared to pay £100 a year subscription would have an access. Choice is yours  BTW-I have no illusions about Youtube being actually "free" but this is a subject for another discussion... I am sure 24Train...

Thank you for the clarification Nomis :thumbright: looks like I wasn't far wrong when suggesting you might have used 7400  ...CombiColor Metal 7300/7400 coating is primer and topcoat in one, based on a urethane modified alkyd...
