Re: From the Archives - Elsecar Show Sept 2017
Yorkshire Show is this year because Elsecar was somehow doublebooked, but many hoping for a return next year.

Gralyn - repaint it, make it more Anglican and it would be perfect.

Hi Ian,
Thanks for photo - very cringeworthy indeed, yes, a fresh coat and lineup would be a salvation indeed

Re: From the Archives - Elsecar Show Sept 2017
Strange, but despite the popularity I don't recall seeing any Berties in either of my local area groups. I think Lady Anne is the most popular, followed by Katies. I'll have to start counting them. Ian LA and Katie are both Classic with full running gear and can be fully RC. Suspect this is a factor...

Re: Newqidas on the Block
Lovely stuff IanC! I remember when you'd finished the first and showed it off, elsewhere :) I'm currently working on a fifth one, in full Great Western express livery - after two years of promising myself I'd do it, I finally bought a coach, wheels, vents etc at Pboro 2018 and dug out all my surplu...

I could do, couldn't I...?
Fennec isn't finished yet though. Touching up the wheel lining for one, and getting handrails on saddle plus lamp irons for a start...

Re: From the Archives - Elsecar Show Sept 2017
You certainly get around, which is great if you post photos of your visits, some of the locos are, in fact all of them are absolutely brilliant. :thumbright: The Bertie, does seem to be a very popular engine and the detailing on them are brilliant. Maybe a real possible next live steam, when funds ...

Re: From the Archives - Elsecar Show Sept 2017
Good to see you again Doug. Great pictures. Memory plays tricks sometimes, but I think I was at Elsecar last year. Or was it the year before? Ian Glad to be back Ian, it's been a while, especially as we'd got lost after the downing of the 'old place'. Good to see you still going strong in the hobby...

Re: IP Coach Kits
That was something I noticed - Penrhyn no.2 was built then sprayed in Halfords primer. It had warped ever so slightly which is a shame. I have to admit, AnDel and SW16 kits have been a more pleasurable build. I had problems in 2013 when the wood totally warped beyond rescue, then 2017 building the L...

Re: From the Archives - Elsecar Show Sept 2017
Some great photo’s there. There is even a photo of the RH Millie “Susan” with my Anne walking past the stand. It was our 1st show and you are correct, it was a brilliant show. We also are looking forward to Bradford and we can’t wait to go to Llanfair in September. Thanks for looking by :) Small wo...

More to come! Bene busy thinning out my 'Tuit' table [the end is in sight!] and relining 'Fennec' as well as preparing for my no.3 to come home. Still lots on the cards.Peter Butler wrote: ↑Mon Jul 30, 2018 10:34 am Well you have kept busy.... nice collection of pictures and a great time spent.

Re: IP Coach Kits
I ended up building two of those blasted things -but I finished them with sweat, perserverance and some grit. Even painted them Penrhyn authentic black too. Not a very popular model however. I think mine were plywood. I think the main issue is that they're flat edge, no tongues or grooves to aid con...

From the Archives - Elsecar Show Sept 2017
Hi guys, I've been absent for over half a year but semi active elsewhere due to IT issues and accessing the forum. This has now been resolved and so I figured I should get back into the swing of things as I have still been out and about steamwise. Some developments, some comings and goings and lots ...

Re: IP Coach Kits
I would have to state that IP kits can be good but thought provoking - Lord Penrhyn saloon, kit from 2015 took two years as it became a chore and not a joy. Cheshire and others mirror my thoughts on this but I understand that kits and building style have been updated since and I am dead tempted to t...

Re: Skarloey Railway dabbling
Hello Sleeper, This is part of my GRF catchup after several months in exile thanks to a duff password email system. Some thoughts on your projects as I read through your thread. 1)Skarloey colours. For painting in 16mm / Garden scales, spray painting can be a boon. For wood, you can safely use the H...
