Re: Cheapo diesel sound card
BTW, 2 questions... what's a DPDT Socket ??  ( Sorry, couldn't resist it! ) More seriously, what do you use to produce the lovely schematic diagrams like this one. It obviously doesn't take all that long to do, given the response time from my post to your reply. Ooops! I copied an...

Re: Cheapo diesel sound card
That's useful to know. I just assumed it would require 5v

Re: HGLW loco tweak
I was asked on Youtube about the hauling capabilities of the loco. At the time, I had no idea. But I added couplings yesterday and so today did a highly sophisticated load test - basically adding wagons until the wheels just started slipping. It took 13 LGB skips plus a brake van. Far more than I wi...

Re: Wibbly wobbly roof
Thanks chaps. Yes, I've decided to replace all the roofs with plasticard. I can see the other roofs ending up like this eventually.

Wibbly wobbly roof
I have now made three models of an early version of the Southwold Railway Cleminson coaches. The first one is now a couple of years old. Its roof was made from five 3D printed sections glued together. After fixing the passengers inside, I decided to glue down the roof using prototypical arched batte...

Re: Cheapo diesel sound card
Yup, a standard 603c will work straight out the box using pin 1 onto the white signal wire of the soundcard. Obviously with all negatives and positives attached  If for some bizarre reason it doesn't then you can reprogramme using 2,1,1,1,1 I thought P1 on a standard MR603 gave forward lig...

Re: Gmeinder & Co loco
Wow. That is a sorry spectacle. You did amazingly well on those dimensions, Philip. My model is more of a compromise as I had to make it fit the HGLW chassis and cab.

Re: British businesses who won't sell to Canada
Not sure if it's their reason, but when I was running RC Trains, I stopped selling to distant non EU countries basically because Sod's Law applied in a couple of cases and their kit developed faults. Annoying as I had very few returns overall. I had to cover their return postage costs and also the c...

Re: Cheapo diesel sound card
Can you borrow a prog 4 to programme it with, or borrow a different TX, like a TX20? I have a Prog4 but it no longer works with the serial cables/Coolterm.. it's all obsolete. Nobody I know within half a days journey to borrow from ( I think you are about the nearest! ) unfortunately and it'...

Re: Cheapo diesel sound card
I would love to know how in really simple layman's talk.. how to fit a sound card to a battery loco, but wiring is a little bit confusing for me at times... :thumbright: Hi Rod The MyLocoSound card is dead easy to fit. Two wires to the battery (via the loco's on off switch), two wires to the ...

Re: Cheapo diesel sound card
I see you've already been advised - yes, it needs to follow Ch1.
Reprogramming should be easy enough if you have a tx20. Possible with a tx22, but trickier.

Re: Baseboard Construction
Yes, I agree with Philip. These days it's hard to get good quality weatherproof ply - basically, you get what you pay for! I've used tanalised fence rails and they have lasted years (not quite as long as your ply). Some cheaper untreated timber I used to fill a couple of gaps have very quickly rotte...

Re: Downloading Fusion 360
Well, I've managed to download and install Fusion. I've had a quick look at it and tried to draw something without referring to the video or online guides, but not got very far (unlike Tinkercad which is fairly intuitive in the early stages). I'm willing to give it a good try. Hopefully, it'll start...
