Re: Garden Rail Magazine

Does anyone know where I can buy a single printed copy? My daughter wants a copy and I can't find it in WH Smiths or Sainsbury's and when I look online I can only find subscriptions for a minimum of three months. I already subscribe to the digital edition and I got a free (hard) copy this month, but...

Looks like good progress is being made. No wonder your posts take so long to write, you have a fine attention to detail in both your writing and your modelling.

Re: Bone Works

I think window frames would be an excellent starting point. I reckon most people buy frames when making their models and sometimes compromises need to be made to make the model fit the frames available. Also, quite a few techniques can be demonstrated with a even a simple window frame. I was about t...

Thanks to Phil Parker for an excellent magazine this month.
Hear hear!! Another publishing masterpiece, Phil.
I understand you've been more than a bit busy this month, so even more of an accomplishment than usual.

Great bit of modelling and excellent video editing.
Good to see the cat making an appearance as well - much more visible this time!
..... And there was me thinking you had also become a virtuoso on the uke during lockdown.... ;)

Just discovered a rather fine looking beam engine on Thingiverse which can actually be made to work ... https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1350988 It looks like I'm going to be firing up the 3D printer once more. By the look of the accompanying video, I may not have to rescale it, which will be a rel...

Are they radio controlled?
I did a fair bit of dinghy sailing in my younger days and have sometimes fancied the idea of getting back on the water, albeit in model form.

Re: Bone Works

Philipy of this parish took a look at my SketchUp drawings and repaired them. It seems that you have to interpret the way the various lines and faces are presented on the screen to figure out if the faces are reversed and if lines are shape outlines or simply just lines. I'm not sure I've explained ...

Re: Planning a new line

Looks like it offers plenty of potential. A circuit with a reverse loop and the possibility of end to end if you ignore one of the links. Rik PS just realised that what I thought was a reverse loop link is probably a line into the shed. A reverse loop link somewhere would allow you to run out and ba...

Update on today's progress I have finished printing out the widows. IMG_0953-001.JPG . The first job was to survey the site at Bulkeley station where it would be located, to figure out what sort of space I'd have. IMG_0935.JPG . Bone Works

Some of you may recall that I created a new siding at Bulkeley Station for another lineside industry. After some deliberation, I decided it would house a boneworks. One actually existed in the area near my railway and so I felt its existence on the line could be justified. I'm not sure I've ever see...

I wonder if the tree would tolerate having a bigger bite taken out of it? Trees seem to happily survive all sorts of abuse and this would be on the inside of the lean and hence under compression rather than tension.

Any arboreologists out there?
