The reason I'm saying nothing definitive is because he's been onboard for my topdrawer project 'Nova - he's cast new bodywork both side and cabfront, has fitted Talyllyn-a-like spokes to my Dream Steam disc wheels and is fixing a steampipe-lubricator for me. The first two pieces he has shown me pho...

Seems the only ones not on the ball are Roundhouse. Well then it seems like a sound business decision then doesn't it, excluding all the Roundhouse and Accucraft owners from your client base! Somehow I don't think people are going to stop buying Roundhouse engines in favour of something else which ...

Never mind Pauly. I like to worry too. I'm never happy unless I'm unhappy about something. :D

I like where the pressure gauge is located on that Millie. It makes the cab look great.

Well I think it looks great. That's the look I was going for, putting a tender on the "Billy' I built. Changes the whole look of it.

OK I will wait and see. I feel it's my duty as a "trainee fireman" to learn as much as I can. 8)

I've talked to someone who was likewise unenthusiastic about doing this, and whose engine spontaneously reversed itself en route before refusing to move at all because the return cranks came loose. But I'm inclined to wait and see myself, maybe until I have the cab off again for some other reason, o...

They should make a Garratt with Lady Anne bogies. That would be something to see. I'm going to start saving now,in case they ever do something like that.

I'm enjoying this thread. I'm also starting to appreciate these simple little engines.

I have a suggestion, though, why not make the reversing lever so it travels fore-and-aft rather than left-to-right?

No, it's the return crank, the little wobbly bit that works like an eccentric to move the expansion link back and forth. On a real engine it attaches to the extended shaft on the main crank on the rear wheels with a great big bolt that tightens it onto the shaft. On the roundhouse engines it attache...

That is very impressive. If I had a coach like that one I'd have to find a nicer-looking locomotive to pull it, and it would be the beginning of a vicious circle!! As an aside, I'm always inclined to think a little better of a person when I see a little traction engine or roller parked at the back o...

I've been looking at coaches myself and have come by the impression that the brandbright kits don't come with wheels, and you have to buy the bogies separately and the wheels separately from the bogies! Correct me if I'm wrong. If I'm NOT wrong, then I am more inclined to order an IP coach, because ...

OK then :| I'm just going to avoid this job altogether for now, and maybe reexamine it when the return cranks come adrift in the far future when I actually have a railway. They are torqued down pretty well anyway.
