Seems Newqida went into hiding for last year, but starting to show up again. I got mine from Hamond toys across the pond, in total I think it cost £105 for 4 by the time I'd paid import charges etc. Mine were the pola express/northern lights rake, the plan is to respray them at some point as an 'eve...

I've had my Lew since December and had the same problem to start off with, showing half full then a sudden stop and pressure gauge drop along with that smell made me realise something was wrong. I stripped out the gauge glass to find that the top fitting was being blocked by the glass. On further in...

The cow catchers on all virtually all Accucraft locos are too low I believe, hence problems with any locos that have them fitted on bumpy track. I know of at least one company that will raise them for you to the correct scale height. Ian for some reason used to set his cow catchers at 2mm above rai...

Fortunately common sense has happened to it and it's been put to the back of the shed. 699 is being rebuilt (a far better use of money) to take 19's place on the roster.

Freelander,

Is it the Cheshire, Merseyside & East Clwyd group your joining up with? Your locos will be fine, speak to Colin Edwards if you have any worries, he used to be the official boiler tester.

Interesting................... I never had that problem with mine but your regulator body looks to be longer than mine - I wonder if somebody's changed it? The red fibre washers look new................ I would suggest you are right Brian. The regulator is an R/C one and looks a lot newer than the ...

Hang on let's start with this the easy way. What loco is it? Does the boiler have a centre flue? Is there a sight glass of any sort? Your problem is going to be getting the tube on end as the when you tip it upside down the tube will lie flat against the boiler and against the safety valve bush so t...

Gowrie would be a good bet for a fairlie, outside valvegear and standard roundhouse cylinders. Then again, how about an updated L&B tank, very popular i should think and a nice alternative to the Accucraft SR version No chance of it being an updated Manning Wardle, too much work to update the o...

OK, I found the link after not too much effort. Here it is: http://modelsteam.myfreeforum.org/ftopic54748-0-0-asc-electron.php Pretty clever experiment. We can all agree Kevin put a lot of work into it. Very impressive work and a lot of effort has obviously gone into that. Very appropriate for thos...

"Merlin never really died they just became Pease and Accucraft UK, not really surprising as the Pearse brothers created the Merlin steam locos and Merlin / Tom Cooper were the UK agent for Accucraft US." Steve, let me correct some of these assertions.  Firstly, Merlin folded, end of story...

Considering the L&B is only an hour or so away from me, it would be rude not to pay a visit. Thanks for sharing. :thumbright: The 'new' L & B is really going places, the restored coaches are works of art and they expect to steam the new 'Lyn' in December 2015!   :) Graham. Considering the L...

Dan's super heater suggestion sounds like it could be it, its usually moisture or oil getting blown back into the burner that causes them to blow themselves out. What oil have you been using in it? I believe that using the thin stuff from Roundhouse will cause the super heater to corrode. Ive got an...

That's the plan Brian. Just like Lyd was but under the theory the Lew just went north at the close of the L&B.
