Hi Andrew, Not sure if you read GardenRail but in the latest edition 237 on page 44 there is a write-up on 'Tooting'. This appears to be the sister loco of 'Joy' and if I'm correct in thinking 'Cordelia'. That would give us the build of 3 that you mention, though 'Tooting' is 45mm. Now if only I cou...

I think Tom did make an up rated SV for mamods when he produced his gas burner kit. Will have a look in my spares box when I get chance as I'm sure that's what my SL2 had.

Aaaaaahhhhhhh I think 'joy' is one of the sisters of a loco my great grandfather had built by John in the mid 80's, possibly 86? I'm sure there was only 2 0r 3 built as you say. My grandfathers was named 'Cordelia' was a red 0-6-0 with flange less centre wheels, I can't remember a lot more as I was ...

Congrats on winning DVT dweller, that looks like a neat little train you've got there, albeit they might be a bit dwarfed by the Rheidol tank or Lew! Thanks Christopher and Peter, first time I've won anything in the raffle. Erm yes they might look a little small with the big engine fleet (vis...

Well my haul from Peterborough has turned up: ./myff/1741317/image.jpg Not bad considering I couldn't go, to far to take the family for the day and I'm trying to use my spare annual leave for family days. 7th prize in the raffle. I will be honest, they aren't what I would usually go for but I'm quit...

Give RH a ring next week, I'm sure they changed the dimensions of the axel they will be able to tell you more. Their support is great, wether you've bought something 2nd hand or brand new.

Andrew, it's the boiler you need to expand, not the safety valve. Is there a water top up valve? 2 things, open the regulator this should rease any vacuume in the boiler. Also the boiler is silencer soldered, you'd have to get it red hot to damage it. Maybe try heating it with the burner for a short...

My swift sixteen van, fitted with a handbrake for use on WSMR Very nice weathering. My understanding is that the original was actually just a brakeman's shelter (no brake gear), and the extra door was to allow the brakeman to operate the brakes without leaving the shelter whilst it was travelling o...

Been out shopping today and found suitable gas at our local Wilkinsons... (we have them all here!) Selling at £2.50 each or two for £4.00 (bargain!) This is the type of can with a push-fit nozzle not screw, so fits the adaptor I already have.  The ebay screw fit item seems worth having too as an al...

Many happy returns Peter and what a lovely present. As for the gas, you can get the screw adaptor from Roundhouse, that will fit the screw top cans from the likes of B&Q and hardware stores. I tend to stick to butane for the warmer days and mixed butane/propane on cold days. The problem being on...

The plan is BR mixed traffic livery like Lyd, but under the theory of Lew moving to my line when the L&B closed. Can't believe people thought she went to Brazil........

Wow there are some complaints about the effort RH have gone to with this new loco, and surprisingly enough the complaining seems to be coming from the freelance boys. There are plenty of generic freelance locos out there between the 2main companies and we've just seen some withdrawn due to lack of s...

Although it is a beautiful model, I get the feeling that this is going to be one of the most expensive models in the RH catalogue. If Talesin cost around £1800 , then this larger model based on a real-life prototype is going to cost at least £2200 by my estimations. I hope to God I am wrong because...

She looked great, but my money is on Welsh Pony for 2017  ;) It won't ever happen, the cost would be far too much for a non-reguagable loco that would just look wrong if the same bodywork etc was used for a 45mm loco aswel as 32mm. Gareth, did your name go on the order list? I might have to conside...
