Re: Track recommendations
Tenmille do all the components you need to make track (as do Peco actually), but not sure how much cheaper. Ready made track from Cliff Barker is cheaper than Peco, including turnouts, and is high quality. The rail section is different to Peco though, so joining Peco to Cliff Barker can be a challen...

Re: Oil tankers
Comp2020redcolour.jpg Just an example from my collection. A bit of silliness really as I have some MOD type wagons that surface from time to time. I have three of the Swift Sixteen tankers and yes they are very heavy. I got part way through converting them from 4 wheel wagons into bogie wagons usin...

Re: Charging
Hi Rod, So long as the existing batteries are AA and not AAA, that set should suit perfectly. If the old batteries are Ni-Cd (Nickel Cadmium) that would explain the lack of charge - Ni-Cd's were notorious for developing a 'memory', where just boosting the charge rather than discharging them and then...

Re: "Patrica Anne" first run
It was a brilliant day, well afternoon at Phil's (Lonsdaler) really fantastic surroundings and a superb line that my loco went round with no issues, the only thing was, my back and legs, Phil's line is ground level mostly, luckily though "Patrica Anne" didn't give my any cause for concern...

Bring it along anyway, even if it's still playing up. Many minds and tinkerers will help I'm sure.

That looks very good Rik. I'm just pondering adding fencing to a station on my line, but I'll be doing mine the old fashioned way - plasticard and foamboard

Re: Developing South Yard at Rylston
Some absolutely first class work there Andrew. The rusty wriggly tin edges are particularly effective. I'm looking forward to seeing the finished coal staithe. Keep up the good work, and best wishes for your upcoming procedure.

Re: The Great Garden Railway Inspection Reports
Oh. My. Head. :anhammer I hope you don't mind, but I'm going to whisper this part of my report. I'm now in the T.A.R.D.I.C. wending my way through the frankly baffling space-time continuum to the fair land of Australia. Yesterday evening I dined with Mr Mainwaring (forgive me - George), his charmin...

Re: The Great Garden Railway Inspection Reports
I climbed aboard our little train and Garry gave the driver the right away, and we made our way down a gradual decline towards our next stop, Birdbath Halt. The track here is on a small embankment, and the ballasting looked in need of some serious improvement, actually missing in places. Although th...

Re: Testing Flikr - No merit
Like Rod I use the BB code (but I'm not on an eyepad  ) To get rid of the annoying tags it places, as a demonstration I paste the code as shown in this image (done this way so the BB code doesn't trigger): bbe_editing.jpg And then delete everything except the text highlighted in green between a...

Re: PATRICA ANNE TENDER BUILD
Hi Philip and Peter,
Thanks both, spray plastic primer is already my go to primer for plastics, I'd inferred from Rod's post that there was a 'new kid on the block', hence the question. I too am happy with this for the priming I have done so far.

Re: PATRICA ANNE TENDER BUILD
Wow Rod. Brilliant :salute: I thought you'd gone off the idea of the momentum van, but I should have put 2 and 2 together when you started on about the tender  The turnbuckle coupling is a great idea, particularly as the tender doubles as a momentum device; the more 'solid' the connection betwe...
