That belonged to a deceased member... it was part of a collection I assisted in rehoming for the widow. It has character and was one of two steam locos that the gent owned... I would hope that members on this forum would not be so judgemental of others work. The railway this ran on was truly a piec...

I agree - there is something about that is tempting..........it looks a wreck but looks to have loads of character ( and no doubt wheezy cylinders!) - now if it were under £100 my finger would be itching on the bid button

At £200, must have a gold firebox or something!

Roof on shed

Yes I think it is - it was a wagon I bought on t'ebay with another item that I was really after - this one was was just too big for my limited clearance line - so it was grounded and gifted to the PW team for the Depot yard - its rigged with a light for evening sessions to give a bit of atmosphere i...

Shocking isn't it!

I know - I'm surprised I didn't have an incident in the tunnel - definitely need for a shed notice for the crews! ;)

The cold weather is here - kindling trains on the CHLR

After a week of the planning authority running the woodburner flat out, it was a busy weekend on the CHLR running kindling from the Wood Yard to Junction for onward transport to the house -  No3 was rostered and managed some sizeable trains - heres a quick video

Our local bobby

Yes, the boys were busy yesterday and their usual neatness of stacking went out of the window (or is that gauge?) - just glad that Mr Bond's Inspector was other wise engaged yesterday or I might have received a 'memo'. PC Peter Lod likes to visit the railway, he is the village bobby so has mo...

Made me laugh

As I set up things this morning, I found the PW staff had been playing a joke with me - the sign at Depot halt had been doctored. https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-TNgtg4JHq6k/WB-pYmTCHjI/AAAAAAAABUM/o1t0O3a1WacoTxYBF7QJO0yD2y0QEdcMACLcB/s320/IMG_1124.JPG Was it them sending me a message about the state of...

Another busy day at the CHLR

Kindling trains kept busy today by increased traffic as winter approaches https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-kh8cMhNd9K4/WB-hfD6fHSI/AAAAAAAABTw/op6fdSd1kTEnnnc-GcrZrIl0ecxne-CqACLcB/s640/wood1.jpeg https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-zQ6V4EoQCgY/WB-hjm82aHI/AAAAAAAABT4/wemREwDr9CcYbfz_5rJmmkedQwUEp8QtgCLcB/s640/woo...

Well sprung indeed!

Hope you have a well sprung wagon, so you don't spill the G&T     Grant. He he - very sprung by the end of an afternoon of Gin trains! Actually as the pic below shows, the Gin in its miniature bottle uses its own truck at the mo, buffered by some corks, with the glass, ice and tonic t...

Thanks

Thanks guys - yes it's a case of making the railway fit in with the rest of the garden whilst not upsetting the planning authorities at home (my lovely wife!) I also want the railway to not only look good, I want it to serve a purpose so whether its moving kindling from the wood area to the house, b...

Re: Thomas power requirements

Purely for the pleasure of my grandchildren, a Bachmann G Scale Thomas is on its way. He was running at the recent Ally Pally model Railway show. A big success with the kids  (and their dads!). I'll probably do a battery conversion. I assume it's 12v, but does anyone know the typical running curren...

Great job

Thanks Peter, Tom the loco is a home build on a Katie chassis. I took inspiration from the Baldwin petrol mechanicals (Moelwyn) and Fowlers. ./myff/2023445/Railway+Scenes+137.jpg I particularly wanted an open engine area if possible, so the battery size determined the sloping box. Unfortunately It'...

Thanks

Thank you for sharing your approach - you are right, piles of sand are useful, especially around many NG railways, especially freight and loco depots
