Rather than using a brush maybe try a broom (no more bending down).

Lovely Dave, runs very smooth. I like the clicking noise as well.

The mechanical lubricator on my 5" gauge loco is of the clutch type which although works well I am concerned longer term it will fail and I will end up with seized cylinders!

It depends on your track plan, do you have one?

It sounds a tad extreme that you need to send the loco back to the UK because of the wiring!

If the loco is out of warranty then I would just get stuck in...
