Re: Loco Control.
Of the top of my head, I can only think of one member who has built something along those lines and by coincidence he is located somewhere in your neck of the woods! https://gardenrails.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=25&t=9474&hilit=wago. Generally speaking, track power outside is too much of a p...

Re: Bone Works
Although they are known as "Staffordshire Blues" and "Blue engineering bricks", they often had a sort of reddish/purplish tinge.
The Great Western also used large bullnosed bricks embossed with a diamond pattern for platform edges.

Re: Bone Works
Cracking job, Rik.
Yep, it is a shame not to be able to see the engine.
This is in no way a criticism, but should there be a chimney somewhere?

Re: What to do with a tiny, barren wasteland?
Excellent write up Arron, don't worry about it being lengthy, the detail is important.
It's coming on really well.
Presumably the air con condense gives you an almost unlimited supply of loco boiler water as well!

I agree with both Peter and Rik, looks much better.
Also glad to see that there might be a RWLR Mk2 at some point in the future.

I'll just jump in here for info, I use Plasticweld to glue both PLA and ABS ( and HIPS ) .Trevor Thompson wrote: ↑Tue Sep 01, 2020 9:23 am Rik
Firstly what do you use to glue the wagon components together - they are PLA I think?

Good job, Greg. From the photo is hard to tell which are the renewed ones if we didn't know.
Interesting that your frogs are styrene, and clearly haven't worn significantly with 20 years use. Quite surprising.

Re: Bone Works
Very good, well spotted Rik.
At least now you know exactly what the speed should be.
I'm thinking that since they do run so quietly, from outside you'd probably not even be aware of the engine, so do you really need to mess about putting sound in?( Other than for " I know it's there." )

Re: Bone Works
I was considering adding a sound module. I have one of those MP3 player cubes to spare. Just need to find the right sounds. If it's open, I might take a trip to the boneworks in Stoke - just need to find out when they're next firing up their engine... It looks as though he modelled the printed mach...

Re: 3 D Printing 16mm models
There were a couple of reversed faces in 2 separate components, and the spectacles needed to have their "faces intersected" Prints OK now. Glad you've got it sorted. It fooled me for quite a while a couple of years ago, before I realised what was happening and it was also part the the pro...

Lovely Rik, well done.
FWIW, I think the speed looks about right at the beginning, before the big hand in the sky twiddled the knob.

Re: Track Sweeper Wagon
Has anybody tried mounting the brush at 45degs across the track so the swept debris is deposited off to the side? I did think about it, but there are several things that made me decide against trying it. a) it makes the drive somewhat more awkward to arrange. b) the leading end of the brush would n...

Re: 3 D Printing 16mm models
I have had issues printing the spectacle plate. Sketchup only identifies "nested object" issues in the inspector subroutine, so it should be OK. The slicing software loads it and it shows all the correct features. However when it slices it it fills the spectacles and the hole for battery ...

Re: Track Sweeper Wagon
Maybe this is going to seem like a daft question, but here goes anyway... Which way does the brush rotate? So that the bottom of the brush is moving forwards, to lift debris up and hopefully clear. If it goes the other way the debris is pushed back under the wheels and sets it up for a spectacular ...

Re: Bone Works
stupid question time... I assume that big round vertical thing is the cylinder. If so how come it has a big hole in the side? RE the motor speed, if the gearbox idea is too hard, how about an electronic solution? An esc or PWM using a Picaxe. Rik, I was just browsing Thingiverse and I noticed this ...

Re: Track Sweeper Wagon
Delrin chain and chain guards. The brush is disintegrating too, so that will also need replacing.
