That driver looks well posed. He's clearly just about to change gear...

Re: Cheapo diesel sound card
Looks like I've ordered two deliberately and then another by accident.
I may have to construct more diesels ......

Although I have no idea what he's saying, I do like the presenter. Somehow reminiscent of a German Bob Sykes. Rik Perhaps you mean Bob Symes? Bob Sykes is a Canadian hockey player. I did. I actually typed Symes but the predictive text on my tablet must have 'corrected' it. Blooming annoying sometim...

Re: North Pilton Works
I've heard mixed reports about NPW. Response times are the usual gripes, but not seen anything about incomplete kits before.

Re: Time to build a railway...but where?
I haven't added to this thread since mid February and failed to notice the viewing numbers have now shot over the one million mark, and then some! It is hard to believe it has proved so popular and I have to say a huge thank you to each and every person who has followed this thread and made it such...

Is that Gorilla Glue between the sleepers and the trackbed? Ingenious idea for both levelling and for cushioning if so.

BTW - The Apedale collection is worth a browse and a visit if you are ever in the Stoke area. Look out for their open days as their collection is only viewable on certain days each year, though you can ride on their railway most weekends and during school holidays https://avlr.org.uk/moseley-railway...

Re: HGLW loco tweak
Andy, I have been trying to find out more about McEwan Pratt petrol locomotives for many years and failed miserably. I never worked out what the canopies were for either. McEwan Pratt went broke before WW1, so their records will be long gone. Baguley bought the remains from the receiver and used th...

Re: Gmeinder & Co loco
Looks like hinges on the LHS of the 'flap'. It might be something similar to the hatches on the side of the front bonnet but minus the louvres.

Re: HGLW loco tweak
It's looking a lot better, but it's never going to be a Rolls Royce finish, methinks? Every time you post a picture I'm struck by how visually similar it is to my Gmeinder. It will be interesting to compare the two once they are both finished. No, I think it will be heavily weathered to hide some o...

Re: HGLW loco tweak
I've now done a bit of remedial work. DSCN3575.JPG Still some small areas of filling and flatting to be done, but the worst crevasses seem to have gone. DSCN3577.JPG DSCN3578.JPG In the meantime, I've been painting some of the cab interior detailing. Sorry about the major surgery to the driver, but ...

Re: HGLW loco tweak
I have had this a number of times spraying over old paint. Unless you manage to remove it all, unfortunately I fear it might keep reacting. Me too. I've usually got around it by filling and rubbing down the affected areas, but it's always a bit of a gamble. If all else fails, I'll just 3D pr...

Re: HGLW loco tweak
OK. So things are progressing, albeit slowly. After looking closely at the photo of the prototype loco, it was apparent that the cab isn't central and so, I decided to move the cab on the HGLW loco back by around 15mm. This required a considerable amount of hacking with razor saw and Stanley knife. ...
