Re: Brass tube diameter

The copper pipe size is 1/8”. However, unless I’ve misunderstood your intention, you can’t install a pressure gauge in line from between the reversing block and steam regulator. Do you have the standard boiler and an in-cab regulator installed or do you have a high pressure after market boiler with ...

Lest we forget, Mamod tribute

The Soldier By Rupert Brooke If I should die, think only this of me: That there’s some corner of a foreign field That is for ever England. There shall be In that rich earth a richer dust concealed; A dust whom England bore, shaped, made aware, Gave, once, her flowers to love, her ways to roam; A bo...

Re: Beyer Peacock 0-6-0T (822) 'The Earl' - Scratch Built? or Kit?

I started to do a bit of work on the engine but then had a change of heart and decided to sell it on. I'm sure it will be put into running order by the new owner who was very happy with it.

Re: A new MSS locomotive and tank wagon

The new MSS is a nice little engine. It looks really smart and they run well - although I use mine with gas rather than the solid fuel blocks. The painted boiler holds up well with the gas firing. Gas is a cleaner burn than the solid fuel though so you may get more discoloration with the blocks. The...

Beyer Peacock 0-6-0T (822) 'The Earl' - Scratch Built? or Kit?

I have recently purchase this engine along with some other items and wondered what you make of it? It's clearly a model of the Beyer Peacock 0-6-0T no. 1 (822) 'The Earl'. It's a steam outline electric but it doesn't have any 'innards' :D The motion looks good and it actually works very well. The ce...

Re: Mamod Display and Motley Miniatures

Hello, I'm a new member of this great forum. I just read this thread from A to Z. Wonderful collection ! Thanks for the pics. Is there a thread about building this nice loco ? I'm very interested. Thanks. https://gardenrails.org/forum/download/file.php?id=2208 Hi Stonecold, I havn't posted a build ...

Re: Mamod Display and Motley Miniatures

Thanks for more pictures. I still love the stationary engine conversion. I will confess that ( for no real good reason) I've never been a Mamod fan but after seeing some of these I really think I ought to get one to share with the grandson when he's older. Some of these must have been fun to build ...

Re: Mamod Display and Motley Miniatures

Superb collection. Brilliant paintwork on them too. Do you have a special technique for painting? Is that the charming little black saddle tank Rebecca I see in one of the pix? I remember seeing that loco before and being impressed. Hi Invicta280. When I first started building these Mamodifications...

Re: Mamod Display and Motley Miniatures

The figures do look good and the overall display. Is the stubby black loco built from a Mamod stationary engine or are my eyes deceiving me? It does look cute, if model trains are ever cute... Apologies for rather late response  I haven't checked into this forum for some time. Yes it is built...

Mamod Display and Motley Miniatures

I recently displayed some of my modified Mamod engines at the L&B Autumn Gala. It was a wonderful weekend as it also marked the new build 762 LYN entering into service. I have modified some of my engines with a WD theme. My 0-6-0 IRENE is modeled after another of the L&B resident loco's AXE....

Re: Annual loco sales?

It's a very simple design and meths fired. There was also the BAGRS some years ago: http://www.panyo.com/mso/BPE.htm I reckon I could make kits or RTR locos along those lines at very affordable prices but it seems like scale, highly detailed locos is what is in demand these days. The Basic Project ...
