I was a member in the early 1970s. My, how it has improved in the intervening years. Grass? We had wall-to-wall mud!

That's unusual. Normal practice is to come off the top of the tank to avoid liquid gas being fed to the burner. It causes surging when that happens.

Re: accucraft ng 16 re guaging

With all those wheels, it takes a while. Use Allen key supplied, loosen grub screw, slide wheel down axle, tighten grub screw back in to the drilled hole in the axle. Check the gas tank too. They were / should have been replaced when the locos were new. You may have to contact Accucraft with the ser...

Re: help please: Blackberry black

Having painted many a model and full-size loco, my understanding is there is no such colour. LNWR locos were always described as being Blackberry Black but consensus amongst those that know was they were painted normal black and it was the lacquer applied over the top once it had been "cooked&q...

What Rik said. The National (Wales) Garden Railway show at Llangollen was great. To me Peterborough is just something that happens that other people go to.

Re: Llangollen Festival

Finally, this was the show that those of us who live in the west of the UK have craved for the last 11 years, since the last one at Stoneleigh. The Event Manager confirmed to me that it will be back next year, and the year after, at the same venue but reconfigured to have it all in the large hall, w...

There can't be many people who have seen a roll-film camera that looks like this, but they seem to know what it means:

Glue? No... Whatever you use will take the paint off if the plate is ever removed.

Always the best way to do it. Put the flame where the heavier-than-air gas is, not where it might be.

Re: Saddle Tank Info

Sorry, I can't think of a commercially produced Hackworth valve gear loco available at the moment. Prescott locos change hands for robust 4-figure values these days, unusual to find one where the first digit is a "1". The first Roundhouse Hackworth gear appeared on Pooter. No angled cylind...
