Re: Further Improvements to a Roundhouse Fowler

A superb job, well done. It is always nice to see a loco that is no longer in shiny-shiny-shiny fresh from the box condition. And you painted the wheels! It baffles me as to why a huge proportion of model loco owners think their locos look great with unpainted shiny plated wheels. Try finding a full...

Re: Point rodding and concrete track

The best way to create flangeway is to do it like The Real Thing with an extra pair of rails. Run a couple of lengths of string between them in the flangeway, and remove the string when the concrete has hardened.

Best thing to do is bear in mind it is neither super or glue, then you won't go far wrong.

It is now a shadow of the product it was when first launched about 50 years ago.

Re: Resin 3D printers - wagon plates

I know very little about this technology, but wouldn't be easier to print the number plates in white and then paint them black, rather than the other way around?

I've got one of those. GRS body on an LGB chassis, but painted as DUKE. And it has got a chimney.

Not wishing to rip anybody off, I'd let it go for £1800...

Re: Live steam at a bargain price...?

If it wasn't for import duty and no money, who knows what might have happened, lol  There is no import duty that I could see. Total price including delivery for a UK buyer is £50.01 for delivery in 10-20 days, or £50.76 for 5-10 days. ... assuming it is not a scam ... Payment via PayPal sugges...

Live steam at a bargain price...?

A working live steam loco for under £50 ... could this be what many have always wanted? https://www.hxhing.com/products/steam-powered-train-and-track https://img.staticdj.com/64783cf66db38776d792f5d4b5f36e7e_1080x.png To be clear, I have no connection with and I make no comment about this company or...

Re: 16mm scale "Linda"

Let me put it this way... if the top of the smokebox on Linda or Blanche needs to be removed it has to be cut off with a gas torch, and then welded back in place afterwards. The smokebox base is now a substantial structure and very firmly attached to the chassis. Hence we end up with views like this...

Re: 16mm scale "Linda"

When first built the three locos had their cylinders attached to the frames by a single row of bolts with the upper part of the cylinders being bolted to the smokebox. Working on the FR soon showed up this weakness so Linda and Blanche had a front-end rebuild and now the bottom half of the smokebox ...
