Re: Weak Bachmann Lyn motor

Shame you don't have 32mm track as I am doing a FR Single Fairlie Taliesin next on my list, maybe you could just make a bogie to 45mm from my 32mm one, after all, it's only the width that would change? More room for stuff, lol. Failing that, just make up your own complete drive unit from scratch, I ...

Re: Festiniog Railway Welsh Pony - 3 D printed

Trevor, that looks freaking amazing, I hope you are very proud of yourself. As far as name plates go, it looks like your plates are lifting at each end the same as mine do. I am going to thicken up the base to try and avoid this but I am not sure if it's getting them off the build plate th...

Re: Can you tell what it is yet?

It looks fantastic - and it gets better at each stage. Just out of curiosity which double Fairlie are you building - or is it generic? Trevor It is just generic, no particular one really, I might give it some name plates to make it look like one, possibly Merddin Emryss as that's the one I have bee...

Re: Can you tell what it is yet?

It is definitely starting to take shape as a 3D image, the downside being is it will take well over a week of constant printing to complete, in reality, 2 weeks due to not baby sitting it 24 hours a day, WOW! I still have a few minor tweaks to do, but as they say, we're getting there. :thumbleft: An...

Re: Can you tell what it is yet?

Yes, I definitely used keyboard shortcuts in the first half, I thought that would be the easy bit, so I sort of glossed over how to get the two intersecting cylinders. You could do that any number of ways, in the example I used two sketches and extruded but you could have used the cylinder tool ins...

Re: Can you tell what it is yet?

If you give me the dimensions of the dome and boiler I could send you an STL if you want, as you can see it will only take a minute. ;) Hi. I am not sure if you found that video or made it fort his example? However it took me hours to follow that video and I still ended up doing things a little dif...

Re: Can you tell what it is yet?

And that's how you do a flared dome in TinkerCad

Absolutely amazing what you can do with a bit of help, thank you so so much

Re: Can you tell what it is yet?

Out of interest I have just had a go with TinkerCAD, your results look brilliant for what a basic set of tools it gives you. I haven't seen a good way to do the flare on the dome in TinkerCAD. This is how I would do it in Fusion 360, its very easy, at least when you know how to do it. https:/...

Re: Can you tell what it is yet?

Opening spectacles as well! You are getting adept at TinkerCAD Rik Absolutely staggering what you are both capable of getting TinkerCAD to do. Fascinated to see how this beautiful drawing will translate into a real-world print, the detail is wonderful. Thanks Simon, as you know, both Rik and I are ...

Re: Can you tell what it is yet?

I have no idea how any 3D work is done but I can show the PDF Models domes do have a flare, so it suggests there is a way. Also, if it helps, this is the way their kit is separated into sections .... Hi Peter Yes, that dome is exactly what I am after doing, I would imaging that it requires a better...

Re: Can you tell what it is yet?

Opening spectacles as well! You are getting adept at TinkerCAD Rik I try, but quite honestly I think you are way ahead of me with Tinkercad. I certainly have issues with doing the dome, I can get it to fit if I print it in pace as I can hide it in with the boiler wrapper. What I want to do is have ...

Re: Can you tell what it is yet?

You are all much cleverer than me with the humour! Im not even going to try to compete. But I am impressed. I know how much effort went into it. Trevor I must confess, I was impressed with the humour too, top class  You are of course right, lots of work gone into this and much more to come...

Looks absolutely amazing Rik, great job.

How much of the drive and bogies is 3D printed and if it's a bought block, what motor drive is it?

About half way through printing out the parts ..... all OK except my heated bed has suddenly decided to develop a cold spot in the centre - so now having to position everything near the edges :? Rik Just put some Pritt Stick in the middle where the cold spot is, might take 2 layers to work well, bu...

Steam Sound Card?

I have used diesel sound cards and know my preference on these, however I have never used a steam sound card. Can anyone recommend a good sounding steam sound card, I know I have heard one or two in videos on here so I know at least one or two people have this knowledge :D I am looking to fit this i...
