Just to be different, why not use Scumble. It's oil based aand put on with a rag I believe. This would give you a teak effect. Look proper posh it would.

You don't need a servo with battery loco's. You do need a speed controller though.

Loddon Valley Railway
Planning stages at the moment. A portable layout, 6x3 feet, on 2 boards. I'm looking at the new system by Atropos, but may take it further by using Code 124 F/B rail from Marcway. All loco's will be battery, maybe using r/c. The track plan will be an oval with 3 points, possibly as a heritage line i...

No room for radio? Try these people. You can even r/c a Skip Chassis with this gear!

You won't have any trouble building these kits.Very well designed and very good value. 4 w.d. is advised and the belt system is much more user friendly than fiddly chains. Would suggest painting the finished kits with waterproof PVA prior to primer and top coat to weather proof them. One of mine has...

Suitable chassis
I would have thought that any small chassis would do the job. Busted Bricks, I.P. Engineering budget, Andel etc. Might need to be inventive as to mounting it but nothing to difficult.

4 stroke problems
You don't say what the symptoms are. All an engine needs is fuel and air to run. Does it start and run,or miss a beat? Do you have compression and is the timing OK?

I've got 3 of these beasties now, plus a couple of chassis. Cracking little jobs. No photo's yet, but on mine,I've fitted the mesh flush with the front. All have the bonnet modded so I have access to the batteries without taking the body off and are fitted with speed controllers as well. Another mod ...

I was very impressed with some wheel sets from Roy Wood. I asked Roy to supply me with one wheel fitted because I intended to use them for a loco project. When I came to fit the wheel to the axle, it was an interference fit. Therefore I put the axles in the freezer overnight and heated the wheel the...

Doesn't really matter. I think that I.P. use either Loctite or glue to hold the wheels on. All I'm doing is to break the bond. Once the wheel is off, its a sliding fit on the axle.

An even easier way to remove a wheel is to apply a bit of heat to the axle. I found that mine fell off with this method. Use 603 when refitting.

I have 3 E-Train chassis converted to battery power and I haven't changed the motor in any of them. One has 4 AA cells under the bonnet and runs fine. Not quick I grant you,but I'm not into speed machines. The other two have 6 cells fitted and all have manual speed controllers. To remove the worm,I ...

Bit difficult using handwriting on the forum. I do agree with you though, especially the hated text spelling and I also hate words that aren't spelt right, e.g. guage instead of gauge.the use of text has banished the art of handwriting
