Budget Track

Just an idea.If you head across to the Gn15 info website, you will find a layout by Chris Krupa called Matthews Corner. What he did was to cut every 3 rd sleeper from standard Peco track, leaving the web intact, then adding plastic strip to the remaining sleepers to give the impression of pressed ste...

Many years back, I had an A 35 2 door saloon. Scared myself stupid with it. Mind you, she had a 1340 cc engine, Midget discs up front, Midget rear axle, therefore full hydraulic brakes and she had approx. 110 bhp. Bit more oomph than intended! Corners could be interesting to say the least. I've had ...

One of the first rules I learnt with garden railways is NEVER throw anything away! Kitchen drainers, the plastic ones, can be used as an overall roof for a station, or the support for a tin roof on sheds. the list goes on. Old computers yield small screws and other bits.

Personally,I think the former BB loco is the bargain. For your money you get a better material for the kit,MDF as against ply for a better finish, 4 w/d and a brass gear which won't strip. No contest.

Due to size of 7/8 th loco's and stock, it probably looks better on Peco Forth Bridge rail.

Sorry about the humungos link, but this battery doesn't need a separate cutout and the capacity should go a fair way.

Thanks for the gen guys. That's what I was concerned about. I have found a transmitter lipo pack at 7.4 volt with a 4000 Mah capacity and a size of 50x70x19 mm. Hmmmm. Should be OK if it will fit.

Has any one tried using a PP3, 9 volt battery in a small loco? With a speed controller of course. What kind of running time would you get. Just a thought as it's a nice compact size.

Just to be different, why not use Scumble. It's oil based aand put on with a rag I believe. This would give you a teak effect. Look proper posh it would.

You don't need a servo with battery loco's. You do need a speed controller though.

http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a48/Catweasel/AvalonBrickWorks_zps1a5b8c74.gif The track plan I like is a 0.16.5 layout called Avalon. Designed for 3 ft. x 14", I reckon that 6 ft. x 3 ft. will do it in our scale. Obviously the curves will be tight, but that's half the fun. Following on from D...

Loddon Valley Railway

Planning stages at the moment. A portable layout, 6x3 feet, on 2 boards. I'm looking at the new system by Atropos, but may take it further by using Code 124 F/B rail from Marcway. All loco's will be battery, maybe using r/c. The track plan will be an oval with 3 points, possibly as a heritage line i...
