Re: Zach Bond "Momentum Van" project

Hello! If the axle is the same size it might be a push fit. Binnie wheels push fit onto Binnie axles, and I think that worked for the zecar mechanism too. If it won't stay put of its own accord but is close I think I'd go for 5 minute epoxy, to ensure a little time to get it just right... Don't know...

Re: Vale of Fairway

I like the roof as well, what is it and does anyone supply plastic corrugated roof in 16mm scale? I think what you need is Tenmille's asbestos sheet for G1 - scales out about right for corrugated tin in 16mm. Hope I've got that right because I'm planning to buy some for a station build,,, Andrew.

Clever, I like it!

Amazing how the trained garden railway eye blots out sheds, fences etc. Must be why I can never find anything at B&Q...

Thanks for the idea,

Andrew.

Re: Semi-scale BR: a GWR mogul, kind of…

That's brilliant! From that angle you've really captured the GWR family look - and the paint finish is superb! I'm intrigued by the whole semi scale thing - I've yet to tackle rolling stock for my indoor chocolate factory line, but that's 32mm to a sort of Faller E-train/Playmobil scale (G-ish?), so...

Re: Time to build a railway...but where?

Wow, this is looking great! I love the thought that's going in to making the village look right, like it's grown gradually over a real landscape rather than being arranged in neat lines on a billiard table. I'm looking forward to seeing the roads unify it all into a single design, it'll look fantast...

Re: The (Windmill Hill) Welsh Highland Railway

Quite true Peter. We seek perfections in our models, which don't exist on the full sized ones. I know what you mean, although I find that when I make the first mistake on a project, as well as disappointment I often also feel considerable relief... Once perfection's out of the question I can accept...

Re: RWLR - Robin Wood Light Railway

The colour suits what I want as it gives a coastal feel like the RHDR (not far from where I live as well): Back when we were discussing atmosphere I had it in mind that your line had a Dungeness-y feel - perhaps a cross between the RHDR and the Rye and Camber tramway... Using only the best DNA from...

Re: Zach Bond "Momentum Van" project

Hello! I suppose it depends on the diameter of the axle. If it's 3mm or close enough, you could use Binnie wheels, as I think most of us using ze-cars did - then you can use Binnie axleguards too... Mine was a small wagon (too small really, not enough weight) so I was able to do the same with the ax...

Hello! I'd agree re RH's excellent customer care and have benefited from it several times. They make lovely engines too... I think any of those engines would fit your theme admirably - and I do like a nice theme... All three are large-ish, which you might want to bear in mind if you've got limited s...

Re: (WH)WHR Rolling Stock

Looking forward to seeing your work. I'd like to have a 2 sets of carriages and wagons; NWNGR (for Moel Tryfan and maybe another locomotive) and combined WHR/FR (for the Wrightscale Baldwin). I'd probably need a battery locomotive as well, probably the Baldwin tractor (became Moelwyn) if I knew the...

Oooh, that's rather nice, isn't it? Wheels and axleguards readily available from Binnie, and good for general traffic too - those fixed sided wagons must have been a pain to unload. It's on my build list, thank you! Yes, I read that about the vans and their doors - I'm glad I did before I built one!...

Glad you like 'em, thanks! I must build a van and proper NWNGR/WHR brake next, but I thought I'd move onto the smaller opens after that too. Re: Gradients in 16mm?

Going uphill is not the problem. Remember, unlike full-size our little trains don'the (usually) have brakes. Interestingly, I find it I'm more likely to keep the speed down going downhill on my short-ish line - I think it's because I'm tempted to charge at the gradients going up! I've got 1 in 50 g...

Re: RWLR - Robin Wood Light Railway

My guess is that they indicate a position where there is a change in gradient on the track.... Yes, that's it. There's more detail here: http://www.railsigns.uk/sect24page1/sect24page1.html, but in brief: "Gradient posts are placed, facing the track, at each location where the gradient of the ...
