It's great isn't it? Very free-running, and a lovely model too - although I must admit, I was rooting for that beautiful teak brake carriage...

Re: The (Windmill Hill) Welsh Highland Railway
Afternoon all! With a wonderfully free calendar this weekend and the weather not too bad, I decided it was time to take my new acquisition, WKLR Number Six, out for a first trundle round the garden. And here it is: Number 6c.jpg Number 6d.jpg Number 6e.jpg The five plastic skips were no test for it,...

Re: Ringbalin Light Railway
Hello!
I've just had a look at your blog - that's some very impressive construction you've got going on, it should be a great railway. The bridges look like they'll be a major feature... What sort of rolling stock will you be running?
Looking forward to seeing more,
Andrew.

Very nice! I really like the log load, and the securing chain...
Do they run well? I'll probably build some for my line quite soon - I wasn't sure how well they'd run with the long fixed coupling?
Thanks for the picture,
Andrew.

Running Free
A little Friday afternoon fun - Peter Spoerer's "Fourth Annual Free Running Competition"... It's an almost Pythonesque take on garden railways - I found it by accident and rather enjoyed it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=86hMlyaSs3U Peter seems to have made lots of other videos, includin...

I'm greatful for any and all feedback I get from this forum . Me too! even though I suspect my posts might be annoying to many members Not at all! I don't understand everything that gets posted on here, but I don't find any of it annoying - well, not unless people start getting cross with each othe...

I appreciate that this is common sense to experienced users You'd think so, wouldn't you? Hope so even. Alas, I've been playing trains in the garden for over 35 years now and still make basic errors! Still, I'm learning, and there are some helpful and generous people around to help me put things ri...

Ah, guess I missed the issue with the Kerr Stuart diesel build in then? I did look in Smiths on Saturday, but GR wasn't on the shelf...
Maybe I'll treat myself to this month's edition and Rik's brewery build...
Cheers,
Andrew.

Re: The (Windmill Hill) Welsh Highland Railway
Looks very nice is it a good hauler? Don Thanks Don! I don't know about haulage capability yet because it's still only run on the kitchen floor with those four lightweight wagons, but I'm expecting it to be pretty similar to my RH Little John. I'm sure it can manage a lot more on the level, but hea...

Re: GRR - Light Railway Extension
That's looking good! Muddy, but good... Another option re the station building/sidings thing might be to put the station and sidings on the other side of the line, ie the opposite side to the shed, so that you see the back of the building from the usual viewing spots? Less conventional from a tradit...

Re: The (Windmill Hill) Welsh Highland Railway
Evening all... With the (WH)WHR's only battery loco temporarily out of use awaiting a new battery pack I took the only sensible course of action - I contacted my local Roundhouse dealer and ordered a new engine. OK, so it wasn't quite like that, this is a purchase planned for a while, but the timing...

Re: Garden Rail Magazine
Sounds interesting, thanks Rod!
I don't usually buy Garden Rail, but if there's an article on building a Kerr Stuart diesel, which I'm in the early stages of doing, then i might make an exception, particularly if some of the other articles are interesting...
Cheers,
Andrew.

That looks very nice indeed! It took me a second glance to realise it wasn't a real one on display in a museum!

Re: A bit of landscaping
That's looking good Rik, you've really made the most of the opportunity. I sometimes wonder whether I should go for a shorter line so I can focus more on getting each short stretch just right, creating little cameos etc and paying more attention to detail - you somehow seem to do it with a whole net...

Re: Battery charging advice please
Thanks for your thoughts everyone. Looking at the battery pack more closely found that it was manufactured by Strikalite, and that a replacement is readily available from them - so, I think I'll buy one of those to get the loco up and running again, then perhaps try some of the techniques suggested ...
