Rinsing a new boiler

Just received my new o gauge loco and tender from MSS and I'm really happy with my purchase a nice looking loco. Anyway the guy at MSS Trevor recommends the boiler to be rinsed out with warm water and a drop of liquid a couple of times just in case of any loose solder. Do you guys rinse your new loc...

We have a small de humidifier so I will be using the water that collects in the tank from that at least I have a safe source of water which I can bottle up for further steam ups. :thumbleft:

Well I'm going to be building a 5 ft oval layout in my brick shed with standing room in the middle and hopefully will be building some rolling stock as I have ordered some Binnie tippers from IP Engineering. :reindeer:

Water for our locos

With me being new to this hobby is it best to use destilled water or am I able to the water from a kettle which has been boiled for our boilers. Any advice will be greatly accepted.

Mss locos will run on very tight curves, I think 5ft diameter is about the smallest.
