Supplier of small nuts and bolts

Just a quick query - conscious when I was fettling with the rc linkage on the reg at the weekend that if I loose any of the nuts/bolts screws that I have on the loco, I don't have any spares.

Where is a good source to buy a selection of very small nuts/bolts /screws to get some spares to hand

Re: A stream for the Elderbury & District Light Railway - FINISHED

Looks brilliant, Philip! Once the moss and groundcover takes a hold, it will tone down the starknss of the concrete. Your sump cover does look a whole lot more subtle than my upturned dustbin lid and will probably be a lot more efficient. I think this project is worthy of an article in Garden Rail....

Re: New quarry engine

Indoor shunting layout required for that loco  Using Deltang that could run R/C as well. Yes - its funny you should say that! If we end up renting, that's the route I'm going down as a temp measure - Tony Hill's (now sold ) Melin Llechi is an inspiration - I have wondered about starting so...

Re: Trims on Radio Control

Thanks for all your replies - had a steam up at the weekend and managed to adjust the linkage length - the linkage has a screw end at the bottom which in effect tightens it up - this allowed me to put the reg at a closed position and get the grub screw through the hole and re attach the linkage. Chr...

New quarry engine

With no line to run, my stock building is key focus - I should really be just building wagons to build up the number I have BUT I do like a loco - so I’ve had a go at a Phil Sharples mini Jack kit - it just needs the electrics fitting and ready to go - including real crushed coal! Re: Welcome to the CHLR

That's going to be fun! The option for indoor running seems like a good one, and I love the siding that runs into "the works", ie the workbench. It will be so satisfying to trundle a finish project off the bench and onto the rest of the line for a test run... That idea's not possible with...

Re: Loading hoppers for the sand quarry

Stunning Rik - very impressive - you are the home of hopper loaders - I remember you built one a while ago based on a kit (Piko?) that featured on your blog and was the basis for one I built - how you have moved on now though!

Re: Welcome to the CHLR

Well - thought I'd share the trackplan - still no house sale so still planning, not doing - (grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr  ) Always hard to plan something without any reality to place it onto BUT it gives me a vision to aim for - the line runs end to end from one side of the garage ( towards the bottom of...

Re: Track Plans

Hi - I use PowerPoint - drawing lines and shapes and adding text and colour - I use it a lot at work so I guess I'm able to get lots of practice - the example below is what I have in mind for my new line once I can sell my house and by a new one - it shows a garage at the bottom with two stations in...

Re: Trims on Radio Control

Ok - this is a pic of a similar transmitter to what I have -- I think I use the LH stick for the regulator - so if I want to extend the travel of the servo, which bit do I fiddle with?

Trims on Radio Control

Hello - still not got a garden to put a line into - trying to get my fix of steam by running my Millie on blocks - recently had its regulator servo replaced- all good but on the last steam up, the servo isn't quite travelling enough to close the regulator off - If I loosen the screw that attaches th...

Re: Garden Rail Magazine

How much do they pay, are you allowed to disclose this? I only ask as I might have a go... I don't think it's a secret. £20 per printed page. Hard to predict how many words per pages as it depends on how many photos and how Phil arranges them. As you can see from my latest article, he likes fairly ...

Re: Garden Rail Magazine

Hi - go on give it a go - I was pleasantly surprised with my cheque - even though it started off in my author name (it was really a typo!) of Mark Hill - now have a cheque for my real name! Added to the funds of the CHLR ready for track purchase when I eventually buy my next house I really enjoyed t...

Sorry to hear your news Tom - I know from losing my own Dad a few years ago, the impact it can have - takes time for things to settle back into anything that feels like normal and in some ways things don't become like they were every again - but you will gain other experiences from going through los...

Yes - great report Rik - I think I may have to issue standard uniform for my new line based on Mr Spectres comments here!
