Mike, how do you find the steaming performance with the chuff pipe? That chimney is quite narrow, and the chuff pipe obstructs quite a bit of it. Obviously it works, but do you find the burner performance any different, or that more exhaust is escaping out the drain at the bottom of the smokebox ra...

Re: Scale or TLAR?
I'm curious about peoples interest in the hobby. Are you a stickler for correct scale or does That Looks About Right work for you? All the different scales make my head hurt especially because they seem to mix imperial and metric measurements. I'm Danish so imperial does not come natural to me. G...

Re: Arc Welder
Here's a short vid of the new Arc Welder from ACME Engineering in action. After being so impressed with the added atmosphere created by the loco sound units, I couldn't help but get one of these! The video was shot indoors (Pentrich Sidings) but the lines new recruit will soon be transferred to Bri...

Mike, why don't you think laser cut lenses work? Link doesn't work, just points to Picasa web and not your folder. Try them. I found as I posted that I wasn't getting exactly square edges. The laser cutting beam is not parallel, which don't matter with plywood. I've just checked out the link and it...

The covers on the bearings would just top it off nicely! Knowing nothing about laser cutters, do you mean to cut the acrylic with it? Can you cut clear acrylic? (Can you cut clear acrylic spectacle lenses???) I make spectacle plates on the lathe because I can produce square edges. I make rolling st...

Re: IP Penrhyn Quarrymans
I am trying to decide whether to leave the coach in undercoat grey or paint it red. I might run it in undercoat for a while and then repaint it. Hello The correct colour is Brinjal which is the name of a Indian chutney. I bought mine as a acrylic from the paint manufacturer Farrow and Ball. Our lo...

Re: Accucraft Edrig Radio Control
I see on the frames under the footplate there is a cut out for a switch, so I guess the receiver would live? Rob Rob, my S/H Edrig came with a retro fitted R/C on the regulator. I added my own R/C to the reverser. The switch and batteries go under the cab, as you mention. The reverser servo goes i...
