Re: (WH)WHR Rolling Stock
So far, so good - I think... The inside's beginning to look quite pleasing, and the outside's not bad... Rusty skip 1.jpg Rusty skip 2.jpg I'd like a little more of the orangey stuff on the outside if possible - I've sprayed some more vinegar and will await further developments... Cheers, Andrew.

VERY nice! You've achieved a great finish. And the choice of colour scheme surely betrays a Skarloey Railway influence?!
All the best,
Andrew.

Re: Time to build a railway...but where?
I reckon they're looking pretty good, especially the top one! I've never used that type of paint, but dilution might be the answer - weathered wood's often pretty pale, almost a silvery grey. It's a look I've tried to achieve several times, with mixed success - I thought I'd got it on my Swift Sixte...

Re: (WH)WHR Rolling Stock
Hello again! I tried this technique on some scrap plastic a while ago. I got some lovely orange/brown rust, but I'd used "medium" filings and the texture was too coarse. If gone for "fine" this time - there's still some discernible texture, but I'm hoping that will look like pitt...

Re: (WH)WHR Rolling Stock
Morning all! Yesterday, I took a stroll down to the shops, passing my local station on the way, where that particular stretch of the Great Western mainline was being relaid. The kit on display was pretty impressive - a shiny new class 70 diesel with a long train of bogie ballast wagons, tampers and ...

Thanks Rik! And don't worry, I've heard there are far stranger corners of the internet than this one...
I found some 1mm hexagonal plastic rod which might do the trick if these don't...
Sorry for the minor thread hi-jack - it's in a good cause!

Re: Now....what should i do with this?
as well as 1mm hexagonal for bolt heads. I'm a big fan of round nail art gems (for modelling purposes I should add. RAILWAY modelling...) but didn't know they came in hexagonal varieties. I can see 1mm hexagonal glitter shapes, but they're rather lacking in depth - have you found something thicker,...

Re: Rolling Stock for the Far End Tramway
How about a Regner? They'd manage your gradients with ease, are gauge adjustable, relatively cheap, and full of character - just imagine a Konrad or Wilma with a few cosmetic mods (big Darjeeling style lamps?) and a garish Indian NG style colour scheme!

Re: Rolling Stock for the Far End Tramway
Fair enough re not wanting to wear out your motive power - but the occasional steam special will be great! I worry a little about that sort of thing with my line - sharp-ish curves and much of the line at 1 in 50, but mitigate the risks by hardly running any trains! The short loops help too, by limi...

Re: Tom's station building
Very sharp looking station building. Any more progress on it since the last post? (Forgive me but I am just very curious to the end result :D ) Not much progress, but I stuck the corrugated roof on last week... It just needs a little filling and sanding and it'll be ready for painting, but that'll ...

Accucraft L&B axleguard measurements
Hello! I'm thinking about building some NWNGR slate wagons. They come in a variety of shapes and sizes, but some of them seem to feature axleguards with W-irons but no leaf springs. It looks as though Accucraft L&B ones might do the job: https://www.track-shack.com/acatalog/GardenRailwaysAccucra...

Re: BR lamp information
That's very nice... Yes, I'd agree that it could of the BR era - I've also got one stamped BR on the top bit. Mine's black, and is of the type that went on the side of a van, showing a clear aspect forwards and a red one to the rear. Let me know if you find a source of lamp brackets to put the thing...

Your latest rolling stock's looking wonderful Peter - the metal bodied vans are wonderful, and I really like the look of the mail van. Looking forward to seeing it all heading up the fearsome grades you describe - I do hope you manage to make it steam-worked...

what the (1930s) locals will make of his bright orange jacket will be interesting... Yes, it's 1928 in my back garden, I fear we may have a similar problem... Hello! No, no actual progress to report on the (WH)WHR, although I'm hoping to make some in the Spring, and have charged the batteries on my RH Bertie and transmitter so may even run a train soon-ish, just another aside, I'm afraid... Anyone who's followed this thread for a while will be familiar wi...
