Spirit vs gas

I was reading an old issue of "16 mm Today" and I found an article about converting a gas-burner Roundhouse Millie to a spirit-burner. And I started wondering why? What are the pro's of a spirit burner vs gas? (My only experience is with gas).

Point in curve?

Have anyone built a point in a curve? I don't know the proper name for it. Any experience or plans?

I know this is a very old thread (2008), but I can't help myself from bringing it up as it seems to be very similar in size to what I am planning. What is the size of this layout? And the radius of the curves? And if Chris is still here; what are the conclusions 5 years later? ;)
