Re: Pen-Y-Bont A new portable garden layout
This is just brilliant and I can appreciate your concerns of transporting and handling the sections. My personal experience of showing an SM32 layout comprising many 5' x 3' baseboards, made of timber tops and frames and covered with slate and other natural materials, are memories I would not wish t...

Wonderful video Aaron, the low angle shots through the foliage are beautiful. It makes your railway come alive and appears to be much larger than it really is.
Love the wildlife noises too, no need for added sound effects in your back yard!

Re: Time to build a railway...but where?
The first of the Lineside Hut coaches having its official photograph taken on the line. The bogies work very well so I'm happy with the way my surgery went. A small lead flashing sheet (900 x 550) has been glued to the underside of the floor to add weight low-down as the coach is very lightweight, t...

Re: Imperial Hotel - a Queenslander pub
I have tracked down some pictures of down-pipes I fitted to my structures back in 2016 (mentioned on my Time to build a railway thread) where I described using picture screw-eyes with the addition of a small collar of plastic tube either side. This helps to make the 'bracket' more realistic..... IMG...

Re: Time to build a railway...but where?
First pair of bogies are now fitted to test the theory and they work exactly as planned (I'm relieved to say!) ......
As a result of this I felt confident enough to cut all of the other bogies and can fit them to the rest of the coaches.

Re: Time to build a railway...but where?
Time to fit the bogies. I have chosen sets from Swift Sixteen, which are very good quality at a reasonable price, particularly bearing in mind I need five sets! The problem I face is that they are designed to be fitted from inside the carriage and I like to fix roofs permanently, meaning that should...

That is a lovely scene Andrew, but if I tried a similar thing here today it would all be blown over the hedge.

Re: Time to build a railway...but where?
Almost there now, despite several days in the garden taking up valuable modelling time. The main bodywork of all five coaches is now complete, including inner panelling, seating and windows. I have added antimacassars to the first class compartments, although when the roofs are permanently fixed who...

Thanks Rik, you are obviously familiar with the occasion I mentioned but I have now added the link to the youtube video, which includes the full script.
It brings tears of joy every time I watch it.
