A year and a half since I started and finally got the engine roof on! Decided that I didn't like the paint job so have started to repaint. And she now has a name: "Rosie", can you guess why?

Have built a bogie (possibly with slightly under sized wheels?), connected up the lectric, put the coupling on, added some seats, and splashed a bit of paint around. AND had it running! The skirt on the dalek does seem a bit low - catches on one track screw and the various debris on the line, but ap...

It's been a long time since I did any work on this loco, apart from paint it. As the saying goes..."other scales get in the way". I've decided to turn it into a motor rail auto coach type thingy, with a single bogied coach permanently coupled. Two reasons for this: it uses fewer wheel sets...

Nothing's happened for a year, due to weather. laziness, and frustration, etc. But the track and infrastructure has survived pretty well. So decided to re-plan and scale down. Turned it into a simple 10m long loop so that I can now just either sit in the sun and watch the trains go around, or sit he...

My 2p's worth - remember that OO doesn't have to be track powered. It is possible to do simple battery power, or battery and rc (a bit more expensive). You may have to mount the bats in the wagon or coach next to smaller locos. The extension to my 14mm:ft (32mm) is going to be in Gn15 - so 16.5 mm t...

I've always been impressed with these bodies. Just a pity about the donor chassis. I'm currently building up a Gn15 loco with a scratch body and a smokey joe donor chassis - to get around the problem of the dumbed down motion I've bought an motor-less and bodiless old triang 2-6-2 (or there abouts) ...

I'm feeling all inadequate again. My couplings are a OO track pin whacked into the top of a central dumb buffer, with a paper clip to attach it to the next wagon. Although I do have some realistic ones: the paper clip has been unwound, cut into three and made into a three link chain.

Re: Busted bricks based steam loco

I use a pair of compasses to mark out the circle, then cut around roughly just inside the pencil line. The compasses that come in a school geometry set work fine for setting out the circle. If you were to use dividers, instead of a compass, you'd get a scribed circle which would make life much easi...

Thanks for the comments. The tin is a Cadbury's Roses tin...will probably use it for the cab roof too as I find it much easier to form curves in tin than plastic card. Luckily my wife is a teacher and there are always lots of tins of chocs at the end of term! Now I think about it it does look a tad ...

Busted bricks based steam loco

Based on the Busted Bricks budget 2wd chassis... the chassis was built and then chopped in half, one end was turned around and a fillet put in the middle to lengthen it (this was going to be for rail car but that never really got going properly). So I decided to build a skirted steam engine as I hav...

Great news! Have to start saving my pennies for a 4wd chassis again. Anyway, if you want photos of what has been built on a BB chassis, then please feel free to use this one: http://i1240.photobucket.com/albums/gg490/simonphotobucket1/garden/d18.jpg http://i1240.photobucket.com/albums/gg490/simonpho...

funny this thread should rise up again now. Was just contemplating rebuilding the log wagon after spending an afternoon with it repeatedly flying off the bend coming into the upper station. Can't figure out which would be less painful - pulling up the track and track base to relay it level, or rebui...

For my railbus I started with a Busted Bricks 2wd chassis, chopped it in half, turned one end round and used it with the motor in the engine cover area. However, I think that I'm going to start again as I wanted a Model T type RB and the axle boxes don't really do it for me....I'd prefer the wheel b...

Finally a bit more action. The loop boards and half the track in place, and the top station boards now down. The right hand turn of the three-way point will slant off back to the incoming track to produce a return loop. However, before the track can go down I have to get the files and soldering iron...

Got all excited when I ready the notice inviting anyone to bring their 16mm stuff along for a run, but then noticed it said 'live steam', so rules out my battery diesels....probably for the best as doing 20 miles in my panniers probably ...

I always go for max width being three times gauge (on NG lines). Of course this does give a little lee-way for cheating as it doesn't specify if it is model gauge or prototype gauge!

Last year I was in a similar position to you, Steve, moving up from smaller scales to the garden and wanting to buy a chassis to build a scratch body on. I went for the AnDel, although mine was the version without the con rods. I found it very good, the 3v can pull 6 of my scratch built wagons and i...
