What a good idea. The stove looks completely at home inside the coach and it's impossible to tell that it was made from a completely unrelated 'found' item.

I've started doing some On16.5 modelling just lately, but if I really want to get stuck into something that has a bit more heft and detail it's 16mm all the way. I certainly couldn't see myself getting involved in any modelling smaller than 7mm scale as it's just too darn small.

I've just started in On-16.5 because it allows me to do more scenic modelling indoors than I can do with 16mm. I'm plotting to take my 16mm stuff out into the garden all going well. Yes I thought you'd like that coach David. I'm going to have a go at one in 16mm just because everybody told me that n...

That Locolines Kerr Stuart kit turned out well Peter. Like you I found that some additional work was necessary to get the best out of a Locolines kit, It's been several years since I built 'Emily', my large 2-6-2 tank engine, using a Locolines 'Mammoth' kit as a basis for the build. I used a certain...

With an off centre boiler does that not cause stability issues... Or do you counterbalance with post holes ? Barry It's the Kiwi version of a Shay Barry.  I would imagine that the cylinder castings and all the transmission gearing would help with balancing things. I do have a digital copy of the su...

Utter forgery!

The Johnston 'B' bush tram lokey is an elusive beast.  A works drawing does survive, but nobody knows for certain how many were made and none escaped scrapping. This is somebody's very nice 5 inch gauge live steam model just to give you an idea wot they looked like. http://i883.photobucket.com/album...

Your two plasticard locos are fine pieces of model making Peter and I love the weathering job you've done on the diesel. I'm glad that you're on the mend now and if you've been so sick you didn't want to do any model making, - well that very clearly tells me that you were very sick indeed. I hope yo...

Thanks Peter :) I should have mentioned that the layout will be occupying half my bedroom, - and yes my bedroom is very large which is one of the reasons why I purchased this house as I knew any bedroom of mine was going to end up with a layout in it sooner or later. The road/rail bridge will hinge ...

My bedroom is in an absolute state at the moment because I'm moving everything around to set the layout boards in place; - or at least two of them for a start which is enough to make a beginning on the town, the station and the wharf.  I decided to move the orientation of the layout around so the bo...
